anyone from nj doing the pine barrens cleanup?

I can't because I'm taking the wife in the opposite direction, but it's a worthwhile effort. Some of us joined in this a couple of years ago and overall the group pulled tons of trash out of the woods.

The Pine Barrens aren't exactly hard-core wheeling, but it's one of the few places to play 4WD in NJ so anything to help keep it open to us is good publicity. I encourage every NAXJA-NAC member who can make it to be there. Anyone who attends, please be sure to sign in and try to ensure that NAXJA gets credited with sending reps.

Thanks.

Damn. Timing is everything. I'm going to be tied up on Sunday, so I can't make it. But Eagle is right, anybody that does have the time should really try to get there.

A bunch of NAXJA'ers participated in this a couple of years ago and was a fun day. True, there is nothing hardcore in the area, but the Barrens is a very interesting area to ride in, especially in the fall. It also represents one of the few places in this state you can get off pavement legally for free. Very important for our sport to show how 4 wheelers can provide positive stuff for the environment and help fight against the negative public image. This will help ensure that the Barrens remains open for 4WD.

NJedgexj - if you have any details (meeting place, time) you should post them here as well.

Have a good time.

Sunday October 24 10:00 AM @ the Atsion Ranger Station

Atsion Ranger Station in Wharton State Forest (part of the Pine Barrens) is located directly on Rte. 206 in the town of Atsion, NJ.

From Points North: Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Interchange 7 - Rte. 206. Follow Rte. 206 South approximately 30 miles into Wharton State Forest and the town of Atsion, where you'll see the Ranger Station.

From Points South: Unless you're in South Jersey, even though you're coming from the South, you'll be coming in from the West because of the Deleware Bay. In this case, come up Rte. 95 North until you get just South of Wilmington, DE, at which point you'll have to follow signs for the New Jersey Turnpike. Once you cross the Deleware, follow the Turnpike North to the Atlantic City Expressway (ACE), Exit 3. Follow the ACE toward Atlantic City (Southeast) until you reach Interchange 28, Rte. 54. Follow 54 North approximately 6 miles to Rte. 206 North. Follow Rte. 206 approximately 8 miles to the town of Atsion, where you'll see the Ranger Station.

From Points West: Depending on where exactly West you are, you have a couple of options. Your best bet is to check the map and see where exactly we're talking about here.
If you're South of Philadelphia, you can follow the "Points South" directions.
If you're in Philly or dead West of it, you'll want to cross into NJ and head for the Atlantic City Expressway, then follow the directions for Points South from the ACE.

I was there last year and will be there again on sunday. Keep an eye out for njedgexj if you are going to be there.
