Any vets? Canine Papillomas

My dog contracted canine viral papillomas from the dog park a few weeks back. The vet wants $200 for radio frequency removal and local anesthesia. I am wondering if I could wrap a braces-size rubberband around it and make it fall off. Rubber-band ligation is sometimes used for human/canine hemroids. I realized that the virus will go away on its own, I just don't like the outward appearance.

clamp behind growth with hemostat...

tie off with suture material...

remove with scalpel...

cauterize.

sit back and open beer.

you can substitute all above with a small vice grip, a sharp spyderco, a rubber band and a cigarette

:D

Rubber band it is. THey are used to trim puppy's tails. You can see another one starting to "bloom"

$200 is probably why my vet drives a drop-top Porshe.

$200 is what the average client pays to walk in the door at our hospital...

WITHOUT any treatment...

Average bill for any of my patients is 4-8k for 2-3 days...

Wish I got a cut of that!

Nope the ring isn't anything special. Jareds - $350

I am trying to save money to get my gears installed so every expense hurts.

Have you ever looked in to health insurance for your dogs? Mine are insured, and it is great. Not all that expensive, and covers most everything. Well worth it IMHO. :)

Here is Sarge at 5 months old at a party this week-end.

We laughed at dog health insurance at first. Now it makes sense. Granted our overall bills have been low so far (valley fever, kennel cough) but who is to know in the future. We would want to take every measure possible to save our baby. Does the insurance co. raise the premium if he is a smoker?

No idea on the smoking part, neither of our dogs smoke (yet). But yeah, it does make sense... I laughed at it too. But it will cover routine stuff, emergency stuff. It will even cover getting the bitch spayed and Sarge's balls cut off soon. Policies do differ... and I can dig the name of ours up if you are interested.

Here they are together: http://www.talkmilitary.com/glenn/sarge/april06/102_0066.JPG

She is 3 months old (20 pounds), he is 5 months old (56 pounds).
