I have a BPS shotgun with a 26" barrel. I intenaly bought it this small because i do alot of upland bird hunting and it swings great. I Also shot trap with it. it gets a little tough to hit the far birds consistanly. so my question is does anybody make a 4" or longer extension choke tube for the invector plus? or should i just dole out the $225 and buy a new barrel. I would rather spend 50 or less for a tube becuae this money would becoming out of the jeep acount.

thanks

Nah, nah, NAH, dude. The Jeep account is totally separate from the upland game bird account, separate from the big game account, separate from the trout account. Anyone who hunts duck is just plain nuts.

I suggest PMing Crash. He'd probably know.

Go for the barrel

I like the barrel idea better but I used to work in a gun shop. Before putting the money down for a new one go to a gun show and see what is available or get you hands on a Shotgun News. Check out this website though. They may have what you're looking forhttp://www.outdoorguides.com/outdoor/shottube.htm
Good hunting:)

Browning was actually promoting an "Extended Swing" version of one of its over/unders and the threading for the BPS is the same, I would check the dealer where I bought it and ask about the Browning choke tubes. Briley also makes a bunch of extended tubes with the knurled ends which project outside the barrel, but I haven't seen one 4 inches long. But you know- I go through slumps too but I don't think an extended "sight plane" is the answer. Its going to take practice practice practice. Sometimes I think the British are nuts but they have good ideas about shooting. Check out MacDonald Hastings' "Why We Miss" I checked it out from the library and it has really helped me. Talks about focusing on the bird and not the barrel. Good luck wish you were around here if you know where the quail are.

I'd just get a turkey/trap extra full choke and keep banging away at those far birds. A new barrel will change the characteristics of the gun. You already said you like the way the gun swings as it is.

Forget the extended tube and buy a new gun. A field grade gun is stocked to shoot at "point of aim" or "flat".To shoot riseing birds in trap you need a gun that is stocked to shoot "high" .This way you bring the front bead just under the target and pull the trigger, the lead for the riseing target is already built in.
Shoot with both eyes open, and get out in front of the crossing birds.

i think i am going to go with a small extension choke 2" or less because of the large number of choices and then add 6 or 7 ounces of lead in the end of the magizine to increase the swing weight and reduce the jerkiness. next is my selection of choke. should i go with a full or xtra full or turkey. third how much difference would there be between a briley and a browing factory choke and like a browning midas grade?

thanks

I am using the factory full right now. I use the modified for ducks and clays and IC for up land and clays. I hunt mostly partridge and woodcock in heavy wooded cover. when i hunt pheasents I switch to the mod or full but i have to wait on the birds alot with the full otherwise you have to have a cup or something to spit the shot into.
