This summer I will be in between my sophmore and junior years of college and I am doing an all summer internship at VT. Prior to getting this opportunity I made it my goal to swap a five speed into my 92 XJ. I have every single thing for the swap except for a different flywheel. I am staying with my uncle in Blacksburg who has a two car garage but no tools. I have a mass of tools at home, Greensboro NC, but was wondering before I convince myself to haul a bunch of tools up if anyone has a big area to do work for a few days out of the summer. I am going to work so I have weekends off and I will work all day to atleast drop the existing tranny and swap in the five speed. Bolting it together is my largest task. I can work out the bugs and stuff at my uncles house. I have a friend at Tech who is in the car club to ask around but all they work on are ricers so I am not sure how much help I could see from that crowd.

Anyone out there that could lend me some space and maybe offer me another set of hands for a few hours on the weekend. I would repay anyone that could help me out.

TIA

Nick

Sorry I'm in GA and can't be of any help, but if they can work on 'ricers' they can work on a Jeep. Jeeps are easier space/location wise and when it comes down to it it's all just bolts and turning wrenches. :)

It is super nice to have multiple jeep guys together because you increase your chances someone has run into similar problems before. As long as your help stays soberish and/or stays away from the angle grinder.

Nick, I'm in Roanoke, I have a garage but its always full of broken XJ's LOL!

I can help some but I coach youth sports(lacrosse/football) so I'm really busy all the time and have a ever changing schedule.

Have you posted up on VA Offroad Sports (based in Roanoke) and Sinking Creek 4wd (based in B-Burg/VT)

Someone there may have more time and space than I do.
