angle gauge

Chris, I have the cheap gravity one from Home Depot, and the shorter digital Craftsman one, (accurate to the 1/100th of a degree - it's a blessing, and a curse!)... anyway, you're more than welcome to borrow either or come by my house to measure!
Billy

EDIT: This is the same one I have. I love it!

Thanks Billy! I just see one problem........I live about 5hrs away now. Haha. I actually was just up in Sac a few weekends ago. I picked up some parts from Jon and Rob. Hung out for abit @ Jon's. I'm really looking to buy a gauge or two and was just curious as to what you guys are using. The input so far has been great. Thanks guys!

Tom Woods gave me a little credit card shaped thing with angle lines printed on it with a driveshaft I bought. I put a little hole right at the origin and tied a thread through it, and the other end to a rusty nut that was laying around. Hasn't let me down yet! (except once I broke the thread)

Great Idea. I'm going to download this right now and see how this works.

The phone sensor is very accurate. The problem with my phone is that it doesn't have totally straight sides. And on 1 side there's a small button that threw me off a bit. But I centered it on a socket (which I had to do anyway to check pinion angle) and got the same relative angle difference (pinion to driveshaft) as I did with my analog gauge.

APP works great! It is called Smart Protractor. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2.

Here's a screen shot.
BTW, this is the free version.

Amazing.....and I now have this app on my Galaxy S2. I also own the Craftsman digital unit.

Yep, I just clicked download on that app for my Droid2.
Pretty awesome to queue up downloads to your phone through the interwebs.
Thanks, srimes.
