airbag light on AND surging idle!

97 xj , automatic, 4.0L

these 2 things happened at same time.
airbag light stays on and idle is surging.

was driving fine before only change was an oil change days before.

any thought?

(i'm a week old xj owner but a 10 year cj and yj owner)

alright did some research.......

my check engine light came on and stayed on. for some reason the airbag light finally went off.
did the onoffonoff thing and came up with a "24". TPS Problem?

seems like i'm burning rich=black at tailpipe.
rpms seem high at idle and at highway cruising speeds.

any suggestions?

i'm new to xjs, but i do own a 2.5L yj and a 4.2 cj

there is a recall on the conectors for the airbags, i have a 97 also my light is on to, but i dont care about the airbag. the recall say something about corrosion build up in the conectors. you can take it to a dealership and it will be taken care of for free i think.

already had the recall done.

the airbag light has gone off....why it was on i don;t know.

got a code 24 TPS problem now.

after much research.....
it was that damn CLOCKSPRING problem!
disconnected the airbag and horn from the clockspring and my idle is beautiful and no missing while accelerating.
will replace soon.
