Advanced cam timing

I am rebuilding the 4.0L in my cherokee. Been talking to a buddy about his 460 build and he suggested I get 3 key way timing set for the cherokee which would allow me to run 4 degrees advanced getting some more low end torque. I looked it up and Cloyes does sell a timing gear and chain set to do this on the 4.0l.

So I was wondering if anyone on these boards has done this or knows if this will work with all the 4.0l's electronics.

I did it on mine, hesco suggested it with their stroker kit, which comes with their RVOB cam, honestly I'm not sure it did much but make me have to run premium fuel,

Advancing the cam increases the effective swept volume at low rpm...increased compression = needs premium...does also increase the bottom end power.

The best bet is to actually degree the cam to specified lobe center numbers. you may be suprised at how "off" the stock indexing can be.

hmm that sucks so is that just in a stroker that you need premium or will a stock rebuild with 4 degrees of advance raise the comprasion ratio that much too? Thats a lot for the info, I just looked up how to degree the cam too so I might as well do that while the jeep is sitting.
