adjustable proportioning valve

got a free Adj PV. since my zj rear Disc conversion i am able to lock the rear tires before the fronts on any surface. so.... i need to balance it

i have never used a Adj PV and im looking for advice about install and setup.

after removing the stock PV there are two lines that come out of the MC, which is for the rear brakes?

after install before the initial drive and setup test, should i have full line pressure to the rears or have it turn all the way down? will full line pressure harm the calipers?

while im messing around with the lines would it be benificial to run inline residual check valves or do XJs have it built into the MC? if so how do i figure out what presure setting for the valve?

looking for advice before i go swap this in

Sorry! But I got to ask. Are you front brakes up to specs?
Disk are added often when BIG tires are installed. If this is true for you. and you are still running near stock PSI in your rear tire your rears maybe well over inflated.
If so a proper tire pressure for all four tires must be establish This may improve handing in general as well as .braking and over all safety
Tire PSI OK
Big changes to springs and shocks also done lately? Tall SOFT springs and shocks as well as LONG LCA with let the front end take a dive faster then an old boxer.
In the case of (overly) soft suspension. It may be over all smarter and safer to stiffen it up a bit then to change braking balance.

ADJ PV in general are a last ditch effort. So I go to them last.
Contact the man of you value I'm sure they will be happy to help you.

well tire pressure is spot on im not over inflating. i have rustys heavier spring rate front coils with stock control arms so i don't think that is the issue. i went to disk because i got all the parts cheaper then buying new drums and shoes. and i hate drums. plus i don't have to worry about axle walk in the case of a breakage.

and i was going to overhaul both front and back before i make the switch. however reading writeups on multiple zj rear conversions some said they did not need the PV and some said they needed.

also if i have a adj pv i can also give more rear bias when towing or fully loaded.

You should be able to follow the lines to determine which go where. The original prop valve is divided so the rear part in goes to the same part out, if that makes sense. I.e. the rear port on the prop valve goes the the rear port(s) out.

That said I believe that the front lines on the MC go to the rear.

You should probably go WJ swap while you're in there, if braking is a big deal to you.

yeah i know where the line comes from the rear

this is the stock system

|-----------|MC|
| |---------|___|
| |
----
PV
___
| | |_______o front
| |________o
|
|__________o
|__________o rear

the issue is the 2 lines that run between the MC to the PV. since im eliminating the stock PV im not sure which line coming out of the MC is the front line and which is the rear because they both terminate in the PV on the current system.

what i have found on website about installing a PV shows a system like so

|------------| MC |
| |----------|____|
| |
| |-----o
| |-----o front
|
APV
|
|---------o
|---------o REAR

i have not found any information on the stock MC showing which port is which
