adding license plate light to trailer

so the state of CT says I have to have a license plate light on a trailer, sooooo I need to add one by inspection friday. Is there an easy way to piggyback off of my tail lights to get this to light up? It's just a dinky 4x6 trailer

why not get a taillight with the clear bottom, so it does double duty?

put a new set of taillights on it less than a year ago, can't really afford to drop coin on another set

You could get a small white light, and tie into the tail light wires..

You should be able to pick up a light specifically made to illuminate a license plate at any auto parts store. I'm using one to light up the license place on my 94 XJ's spare tire swing arm. Tie it into the trailer's clearance lamps.
