A peak at what a certain traitor has been up to

Thanks, should help keep me from flopping................and Troy from singing :D

looks good, dutch, the wheelbase stretch and the low COG should keep you belly-side down!

Well I decided to bring it into the garage today, I want to reclock my D300 a bit flatter and start working on my antiwrap/traction bar. I really didn't feel like taking the top back off and I wasn't in the mood to swap out the back tires for my stock 1 ton truck rims/tires either.

The front half goes in no problem, but at the b-pillar hoop the soft to raises up a few inches. I'm guessing this is for passenger head room for people trying to squeeze into the back seat but no matter the reason it causes an issue when trying to get the jeep into the garage.

So I pulled the valve cores from the rear tires and used a ratchet strap to suck down the rear suspension

And success, it fits!!!!!

At first the tires really didn't flatten out much but once I put some torque to them from the drivetrain they really flattened out and the Jeep was way low in the rear. I actually might not have to suck down the rear suspension to get it back out.

The loop attached to my house? There are two of them and they used to hold a swing for my son. :D

Just let everyone know, a 231 box4rocks and D300 combo is a heavy arse chuck of metal. I pulled the thing by myself and that was bad enough. Trying to put it back in and is the suck. I tried 4 times and couldn't manage to hold it up there and get the splines on the trans o/p and t-case i/p to match up right. I almost dropped it on my face and finally gave up. I'm so frustrated with this shite, I can't imagine the people that spend years rebuilding a car or building a rig. Its been a year now and I am so ready to throw in the towel.

BTW, anybody have a speedo sending unit for a NP231? My YJ is a 92 and it looks just like the one my 92 XJ had. I'm talking about the piece that the speed gear goes into and is attatched to the the tailcone of the T-case.

That would be the V.S.S.

Matching the wire harness plug will be the issue between the years...... not sure how many styles/changes there were during the H.O. years.

Mine looks just like the one in your picture, except that its broken of course.

I;m just at that point where if somebody offered me decent money I'd ditch this thing in a heartbeat and go back to wheeling a stock XJ. I thought my last build took a lot of time and nickle and dimed me to death, this thing is rediculous. Makes me wish i had the money to just call up Josh at CrawlerTec and have him build me a 4 seater buggy from scratch. Oh well, I know its going to be great when its done and fact of the matter is its really close. I just need the holidays to get done and over with so i can spend what little extra cash I have finishing this thing up instead of buying a bunch of crap for people in the "spirit" of christmas. I thought the true spirit of christmas was getting together with family and loved ones not spending every penny we have on a bunch of useless material possessions that go mostly unappreciated by the ones getting them. Thats right, bah humbug. I'd rather spend my money finishing my Jeep so my wife, kid, and I can go wheeling than buy a bunch of gifts for people I rarely talk to or see.

I probably have one of those laying around in the U-haul...... not sure exactly when I'll get over there but I imagine sometime this week. I'll call ya and let ya know when I know.

What the heck am I looking at in front of the Jeep?

He got his house pierced, must be the new rage in home remodeling.....:dunno:

Thanks Troy, I'd appreciate that. Its nothing I'm overly rushed for but I'll definately need it eventually. On the pre-OBDII vehicles w/ manual transmissions is the V.S.S. used for anything other than the speedo?

What, I'm the only person to hang a swing in his garage door so his son can sit there and be mildly entertained while bulding a Jeep? Before that it was the stroller. Now its his big wheel, and after christmas it'll be a single seat Jeep Powerwheels. I had to get the single seat because he and my neighbor's 3yr old daughter are already too close, I don't them crusing the culdesac together and "parking" already. :D

Pretty sad though, my 2.5yr old son will have a driving Jeep and I won't :D

Yeah, even the OBDI systems needed signal from the V.S.S. for a few operating systems. If the computer can't tell the vehicle is moving....... it's gonna wanna run like chit.

I figured as much, it already runs like crap right now with the exhaust being cut off after the downpipe collector.

If you call me at 0645 am, talk sweetly to me and remind me to look for it, I might be willing to swing by the lot on the way home.......

I'm already at work by then so I very well might just do that. Can I call you at 0625 though, that way I don't have to hide to use my phone. Military job, its a pain in the arse but the benefits are good and so is the quasi job security.

Text me then....... I'll be in de-briefing at 0625........ Can texting be done sweetly????

Ordered my front shocks, Bilstein 5150's w/ 12" of travel.

I also ordered these to use as rocklights, cheaper than even the moajority of the eBay crap I was looking at. We'll see if they're worth a damn or if they turn out to be a waste.

I also am still in need of a replacement VSS, the one I need looks just like the one Troy posted farther up the page
