Did you get any codes ?
Can you get it to run if you keep it revved up from start ?
Can you get it to where someone can load test battery ?
I believe you have a EGR valve ? These can be tested with a hand vac pump, like this . Autozone should have a loaner you can use, with deposit.

What repair manual do you have ? You need at least a Haynes or Chiltons to test some of this stuff, rather than just buying parts.
Check the wiring really closely going to the CPS. Make sure nothing is open or bare.
