Replacing my buddies pads, calipers, and rotors on his taurus down here at school and I've run into a problem I've never seen before. I've worked on plenty of brakes, especially discs, but this is different. The emergency cable is like one on a bicycle.(a cable with a slug on the end which fits in a slot). But the slot is on a arm on the caliper which has a spring attached to it. I've got the cable disconnected, but the covering is run through a ear with a hole in it on the caliper. There was a little c-clip that was on there, so that came off, but it won't budge in the whole. Has anyone ever seen a setup like this before? Do I need to just pound it with a BFH to push it through the hole? Pictures tommrow for some help.

Should come off if you removed the horshoe clip (c-clip). Try tappin it out. Gotta love fords :nono: ........tell him he should have bought a Jeep. :patriot:

I am assuming that the sheath has an end on it that's a press fit in the hole, and it's rusted in. Not that uncommon. If you can get a grip on it (preferably the back side of the fitting that goes through the hole), try taking vise grips and rotating it in the hole first, and maybe you can wiggle it out. Try not to pound on it unless you have a new sheath on hand.
