Hello all. Id like to start off by saying thank you for all the info you provide here on this site for all of us XJ owners....It helped me out tremendously threw out the years....

Ive done some research online now for awhile since buying my new to me 93 xj sport and thought id try out this posting stuff with some questions i have that im not 100% on...

First ill start off by giving you the info on the jeep...As stated earlier its a 93 sport, 4.0, blue, auto, 231j x-case, 4x4, chrysler 8.25, 4 door, 56,000km.....THATS NOT A TYPO..56,000km:woohoo:
Worked done to date..New brakes all around, greased slip yoke, tightened flex plate(1/4 turn:confused:), bedlined from rear seat back, new IAC sensor........

My questions are based on a 4.5inch Rubicon Express lift(with leaf pack) i bought used(one summer use):spin1:

1-Do i really need a SYE kit for this lift?? Or can i use this...( i cant seem to post a pic from my computer pics). ill describe it the best i can.. its a 231j x-case i found at my buddys shop laying around but has a different output shaft then my 231j. Seems to have a factory looking SYE shaft and a big balancer disk on it with rubber in the center of it(why i think its a balancer of some sort). wondering if i can just use the tail off of that x-case and put it on my 231j case.
2-Do i need to do transfer-case drop and axle shims(if yes, what degree shims do i order
3-Can i use my existing DS with this lift? or with that other tail from the doner x-case i tried describing.....
4- Am i missing something for the front end of this lift that didnt come with the original kit that i need to buy to make it work?

Thanks guys for all your help in advance. I know its a long first post and ill try to keep the others shorter:cheers:

I would do a bit more searching since a lot of those questions have been answered before.
and as all searches will yields, all jeeps are different. yours going to have to figure out if you need anything.
the only question I see that is actually not common ish is the transfer case, do a search on google to give you a better idea. there is a difference in late model and early model transfer cases, being which is the tail cone.

thanks for the reply. thats what was confusing me. some people use shims, some dont, some have SYE and some dont etc..... But i understand what ur saying. install first and adjust from there..its just that this is my DD and im trying to get all possibilities covered so i dont stay standed with it parked on blocks passed the sunday lol

trust me, I understand lol I need to crack open my transfer case and see whats wrong(hopefully just the chain needs replaced) but its hard since its my only vehicle and my dd.
before doing anything, search around a bit more, learn about your jeep year since its a early style there is a higher chance of not needing a sye but again, no jeep is the same

Thanks Demonoid369...i might have posted my intentions in a wrong way. This is really my first time posting on a forum(was always a reader). But with this jeep i really want to become part of a group that also has the exact passion and goals as i do. So i might have tried to cram as many things in a post, knowing the answer or not( my bad) lol
I will take your advice and read on about this transfer case tail swap.

No swap lol just different designs lol the later 231 gave way from a longer tail cone to a rubber boot covering the slip yoke. Reading around you'll see that early styles with the actual tail cone(like yours) have a better chance at not needing a SYE but again some people have needed a SYE at 2.5" and other never needed one with 5.5" of lift.

I have a 93 sport as well, and from the research that I have done, our year XJ won't get the driveline vibes like the others due to a different tail piece on the TC. I am installing a Rubicon 3.5 lift and I am going to wait till I get it on the road at about 75 mph and see what gives.
