I just got a tow rig.

1993 3/4 ton suburban with a SBC my one concern is the 1-2 shift is at 2000 rpm and really harsh at light throttle. does anyone have any thoughts about it. It has a 4l80 trans and is completely computer controlled.
WOT upshifts seem just fine.
TPS?
It has no provision for a throttle valve cable. other than slamming into 2nd gear I love it .
Can't wait to tow the XJ with it once this is sorted out.
Do you know of any reprogrammers for this trans?

AW4 would be easy to sort out.

thanks a bunch NAXJA rocks

Congratulations on your new tow rig!!
I recently bought a 94 K1500 Sub. I can not help with your diagnosis other than most AT's are adjustable, including shift points, bands, etc. However, I have no experience with that transmision.

I have used Offroad.com for their GM IFS forum for help on my questions an it is pathetic campared to here but you might want to try there, even a search might be helpful. If you know of other forums I would love to here about them also.

Personally I would take it to a Transmission shop and ask them about it, they will often just take it for a drive and tell you that this is a comon problem X, Y, Z, or that it would have to be taken apart for a diagnosis, at least it is a start to some Free help. Also, if the transmission has not been serviced recently, I would definetly do that, maybe even change the filter.

Best of Luck,
Michael
