7100 valving

alright guys running bilsteins what valving do you like suggest? I have long arms with rubicon 5.5 coils and right now my shocks are soft. I want them stiff. I want to rebuildmy shocks saturday so I need answers

there a quite a few threads/posts in this forum specifically regarding 7100 valving... if you want them stiff, make them stiff.

I have 360/80 in my MJ on D60s and 40" MTRs. I've only done a few short stints with it and I think they're perfect. I have Rustys 6.5" coils.

Maybe try a stiffer coil...? I'm not a suspension expert.

I have never actually had a 7100 fully apart, but on my jeepspeed SAWs I doubled up the compression shim stack and ran a double .020" shim stack as per Brian Bell at SAW. not sure if there is enough threaded shaft on the 7100 to do that.
edit: I would get some stiffer coils first. if 360/80 is not stiff enough, you have other issues imo.

hmmmmmmmmmm I'll rebuild them with this valving and charge them correctly since I have suspicions that they leaked the charge out. I need stiffer coils

6" fabtechs are stiff. Cut a coil out and they'll be a little stiffer.

Deaver coils are awesome. 360/80 7100s with Deaver 5.5" coils and it's just about perfect in the whoops. I haven't tried my hand at anything crazy per se, but it does awesome screwing around in the desert out here. Also, I had Rubi 5.5s before the Deavers and it felt too soft. The Rubis bottomed regularly, the Deavers greatly reduced that tendency.

x2! I had this setup on mine.

Deavers are a progressive coil. The more it compresses the stiffer they get. I wish I could get them:tear: If your cheap like me & can't afford it, then find some springs that are roughly 190-210lbs/in (spring rate) & get 360/80.

Our buddy Tyler converted to 2wd and runs 3" springs with a 1.5" spacer. & 275/78 valving. We are all about lightweight & staying above the whoops.
To prove how well it works, he has 3" lift in the rear..Stock xj leafs with a AAL & some crappy no name/white rocket shocks and we were able to run around 65-70 at the MORE race in JV a few months back. His leafs are litterally coming apart & the shocks are blow in the rear & we still were able to haul ass over some nasty stuff without getting slammed around!

Just keep it lightweight & float across stuff.
His new trussed, sleeved & gusseted beam weighs less than his stock D30 did & its probably 10x stronger! So that'll help keep his nose up a little.
Remember stiffer front/mildly softer rear, so it doesn't buck on you.
360/80 front 275/78 rear.

These were one of the very few times I've caught a listing before anyone else. Just gotta be patient. I'm still waiting to find a set of Deaver leafs at a time when I have money that haven't already been sold.
