hey guys, i'm thinking about buying a 6" lift with 33" tires rather than the 4.5" lift and 31" tires i was gonna put on it... but the only thing I want to know first is if I have to change my gears for the 33"... can anyone help me out?

33's fit on a 4.5
gears are needed for 33's
no gears + 31's will kill a clutch real fast

6" is kinda tall for 33's IMO, but then - that is what i run...

would be much cheaper to do around 4 and run 33s then use the money you saved by not going 6" and use that towards gears

same, but now i got 4.56s....muahahahahaha

What Gears are you running now? I am assuming 3:55's? 33's with 3:55's will suck, but is doable. At minumum 4:10's with 33's will be ok but not great. 4:56's is what you want with 33's or even 35's. :laugh3: I have seen folks run 33's on 3.5" to 4.5" of lift with a good amount of trimming. If you don't want to trim then do the 6" of lift and bump stop the hell out of it

i run 7+ and no rubbing ( in the garage ) without even triming! and it looks killer at the MALL!! just kidding. ( no one takes jokes any more ) actually if you dont need it stick to 4.5 but 6" aint too bad, 7+ and BFG 12.50/ 33"s is ideal for the rocks in the desert washes and hills that i deal with.

oh, i forgot to say i didnt need gears because of the engine i run.

I'm running 33's on 5.5" of lift and you really have to stuff it to make it rub. If you're going to try 33's on 4" of lift budget $150 for a good sawzall and a hammer:)

Slowrider - What set up do you have? Have you bump stopped to keep from rubbing?

Thanks....

alright guys, i really appreciate all the feedback... its a big help. So pretty much, If I go any bigger than 32" I have to change my gears?
i suppose so, i did it with 31s and went to 4.56s and was very glad i did. it could crawl like a mofo. now w/33s it is still pretty good. if i could have gone 4.88s i would have.
