$50 paint job

Yea it took some time getting used too thats for sure. I am still up in the air about replacing them, but at $80.00 a panel they prob wont be going back on. LOL

But like I said, fresh paint and a little time, hell it looks like new. Not to bad for 290,000 miles. Original. I see you have a 87 waggy also. Got to be my fav of them all.

Yep, bought the 87 Waggy in 2004 for $1,500, 224,000 miles on the odo. Don't know any of the prior history on it. Prior owner(s) pealed off the wood grain on it and painted that area flat black, which actually looks OK. The original color is light metal-gray sort of a gray-light brown-silver mix of some sort. The hood and roof have lost the clear coats and sorely need repainting. I have managed to get it up to 250,000 miles on the odo as of last week, but replaced nearly everything under the hood except the engine & tranny since I bought it. Even did some engine work on it.

Mileage wise I prefer my 85 Chreokee Pioneer that has the 2.2 L nissan diesel engine transplant, but I do enjoy driving the Waggy (lot more power as the nissan is only about 64 hp peak) at least until the gas tank gauge starts lighting up.:rattle:

From what I see on the road, these waggys are becoming rare!

They are getting few and far between here as well. If you do find one, more than likely it has been molested to the point of being like any other XJ. I got lucky with this one. D44 rear, Trailer pack, 242 T-Case, everything I wanted. As far as gadgets all of them work. The pass side window is getting slow, but, I think I have found a fix on here for that so. I have read a lot of your threads and I have to say, Thank you. The Renix idle thread, saved me hours of time.

Glad to hear the time saved story. Pat on the back..., LOL. I wrote it up in my idle time, LOL.

Mine is exactly like yours, towing package, 242, D44 rear, power windows....I had to get real aggressive with penetrating oil in the black hose/tube on mine to get the drivers window to work again. Still got a few minor things to do to here, but all the critical stuff is working really well now.
