OK... prolly gonna need a new alt VERY soon. I play with the connections and the grounds, problem goes away. Basically voltage drops to 11 even and I get the 41's. Wiggle things, 41 goes away and I'm almost straight up 14.

Need to replace my 93's (Nippondenso??) with a 130amp. Where to go in Chicago area for a reliable alternator?? I'd prefer to not pay through the nostrils for a parts store, China refurb!

I am going to be getting a 180 amp alternator for $100.00 from a local alternator rebuilder. Sells them alot to people with big stereos in their cars. Try to find a local rebuilder and see what they say.

I agree with Rev and 85xj ... check and make sure your alternator is not just dirty, if so clean. If it still is not working properly, have it rebuilt if possible. If this cannot be done reasonably, then just replace with an OEM alternator.

Finally died all the way. Volt gauge dropped to < 9vdc. I know I rode the battery all the way home from work. Even my speedo and tach went flat. I literally coasted into mt garage. It was really freaky with almost NO power when I stepped on the gas.

Got a new one coming day after tomorrow from a place in SC and online. Rebuilt OEM Nippondenso with a 3 year warranty for $125, that included a $20 core charge. Almost isn't worth it to send back the core. I'd have to pay for shipping.

Place is called Alternator Starter Express. Anyone deal with them before??

New alternator came in. OEM NipponDenso. Looked good. They sent it's output graph, whole nine yards. (130amp) Plug N Play. Gauge now reading 14 straight up, 13 with the air on. Not bad for $114 and $17 shipping UPS second day. 3 year warranty. Looks like a decent source guys.
