hey
So I am going to get 4:11 gears for my xj (front and rear). Now I have never worked on a diff and I don’t know jack about diff's. I have done allot of motor rebuilds. So my question is, would it be better for me to do it myself or pay someone to do it for me? I don’t know what is involved in the install of gears.

Hey, welcome to Naxja!

If you've never done gear work before, its going to be quite different than what you're used to, and there is a bit of a learning curve for it.

Also, your Dana 35 rear axle is a bit... undesirable. As in you'd be wasting your money converting it to 4.11's. Instead you should look for a Dana 44, Chrysler 8.25 or Ford 8.8 to swap in instead.

A search here can help you out on what you need to look for on a new axle.

Since you want to do a gear swap anyways, as said above, pick up a D44, C8.25, etc. and gear that
