4.0 HO Parts

What parts could I use off of an early model HO engine on my lalte model 4.0 engine to get some more power? Just wondering because I found a beat up cherokee with a HO motor and thought I could use some parts off it for my next project.

from my understanding everything bolts on and you could take the CPU and wiring harness and swap all that and run the full motor.

but i the best case run the head, ntake, exhaust and TB from the HO. the TB will need to have the TPS from the old Renix motors TPS.

you will need to use the CPS,Knock and TPS from the old motor.this includes the flex plate/flywheel and the distributor.

if you want to run the newer HO fuel injectors and rail you need a fuel line extention for the return line.the ERG valve will also need to be removed.

i have lots of info on this now been searching for about 2 weeks strait.

Would you mind sending me some of this info. Not that I am extremely lazy but it would be nice not to have to go through the trouble of research if it has already been done. If it is too much trouble though don't bother.
Also the 1997 and later blocks are stronger because of their buttresses (or h/e you spell it) so would I be correct saying that it would make a very reliable motor to use a late model block and other early HO parts along with common engine building mods? Thanks again.

About the only part that might help in power is the head. The 91-95 head has slightly better flow rates than 96-99 heads. You are correct that the latter blocks (96+) have better cylinder walls and an main craddle. I would suggest porting your present head for an increase in power. Look around this board. I think there is a thread on DIY porting going on.

I will Pm you the stuff that fits.

I am changing over to am HO from my curent non HO and will be putting the entire HO motor in except TPS,CPS,and distrbutor.

All parts are exchangeable and the late modle motor is brute but the early HO head is a little smother but everything bolts on the wireing is the only issue.

what year and motor is the jeep you have and the motor you are wanting to use?

I have a 1997 4.0 and a 96 that isnt in anything (yet). I am almost done rebuilding the 97 for my cherokee sport. But I the HO motor is from an early 90 (i think) cherokee, i also may be getting a late 80's j truck that I think has the HO in it.
