3in lift with 32 on 97+

you will need to get rims with different backspacing to avoid tire rub on front at the lower control arm, otherwise minor trimming will clear easily. I have 3.5" and 32" dunlop mud rovers, trimmed front and nothing in back, use bumpstops.

it all depends on what lift and how much it actually yields- my rustys 3" lift measured out to be ~3" front and 4" rear, and ive only got 31's but i know for a fact that 32's would stuff nicely, as the 31's have PLENTY of room, but maybe im just lucky

With Stock backspacing you will rub the lower control arm, I rub the lower control arm with 245/70 R16 (nearly 30x9.5)on stock Classic rims.
You can:
1 Buy a new set of wheels with different backspacing or
2 Buy a set of 1" or 1 1/2" spacers.

I don't have a clue if you can or cannot fit 32's with 3" of lift. But some of the XJ guru's in here may have the right answer to that.

my 33s rub with 6" lift. they rub the flares when flexed, and rub the LCAs when turning sharp; ive also added a nut to each stop on both sides and still rubs a little.(33x13.50r15 with 3.75 bs)
hope that helps

I have 4" lift, no flares, trimed, 4" backspacing, 3" of extra bumpstops, 32's and I still need to chop the lower front off my fender to get rid of all rubbing.

4.5+" lift, 31's (32's after finished trimming), 4.25 backspacing, no flares (trimming right now)... turning i rub LCAs, flexing i rub rear front fenders & back not too bad... the trimming and bumpstops will fix all that...

so, with 3" & 32's expect rubbing until you 1) get backspaced wheels 2) add bumpstops 3) trim... HTH

A big aspect is what tires you choose. I run 32x11.50 Mickey Thompson MTX's on 15x8's with 4" of backspacing. I have a RE 3.5 super ride kit on my 99, they rub a little when I am turning and flexed a little, but Mickey's are notorious for being smaller than their rating. You can run up to like a 31.5" tall tire without trimming any metal, just some plastic. My MTX's are rated at 31.7" so I bet a true 32 would rub pretty good...

I have 265/75-R16 (about 31.5") on stock 16" jeep wheels on my '01 with a skykacker 3" lift and have never had any problems with them rubbing on anything in any situation on the road. However, since I put the lift and tires on I haven't had a chance to get into a situation offroad wich will flex my suspension a lot so I don't know what will happpen then.

In that situation they will rub. I rub my 245/70 R16 with a bb.

at 6" and 33's, i rub at ride height with no trimming on the fenders....
