One more vote for 31 & 3.55 is ok. I have it on my 145,000 mile 4.0 AW4. Yes it downshifts a lot more. Yes you use more gas. Yes its noticeably sluggish. Yes you should add a trany cooler.
My XJ wheels so much better with 31x10.5 Timberlines on it than it did with the 235-75's I wish I had done it A LOT SOONER. I dont drive mine except to and from trails so I dont mind the problems at all.
I would like it a lot more with deeper gears but I am going to wait for next major upgrade where I go real deep, polish the turd and add 33's. I dont want to pay for gears twice and it works just fine on the 3.55's for now and would highly recommend it.
