You'd be lucky to gain 5hp with the '99+ intake, never mind 18! Even if you don't opt for the '99+ intake, you'd probably gain nearly as much HP/TQ just by adding a 62mm bored TB spacer to raise the TB further away from the plenum floor.
As for the aluminium head, the 30lb weight saving would be nice but at over $1000, I don't think so. You can save 50lb by removing the engine and gas tank skidplates at a cost of absolutely nothing. The aluminium head will allow up to a full point more compression without detonation but you'll also need that extra compression to make the same amount of power. The real benefit of the higher compression permitted by the aluminium head is improved thermodynamic efficiency and the potential for better gas mileage/emissions.
Hesco also has an aluminum block they'll be producing-total weight loss (IIRC) was 117 lbs, including the head. How trick would an all-aluminum stroker be?
The 30 lb. savings using the head is without lossing anything, some need there skidplates. The weight savings of the alum. head could be in addition to stripping off other pieces. There are some guys who are very weight conscious with there trail rigs-talking about huge weight savings! When you're pulling carpet, replacing glass with lexan, etc. in an effort to cut weight, 30 lbs (or 117 lbs. ) becomes huge. Where do you strip when you can't strip anymore? PLus less weight is the equivalent of more horsepower for the speed-freak in all of us!
From what I understand Hesco's new head has superior design/better flow characteristic right out of the box, compared to the factory head. A fully polished head with over-sized valves, etc. would be incredible. Can't wait to see the dyno results! Better start playing the lotto!!
