3" lift

Wheel every week. Damn near rolled with my current 3.5" on tuesday.
I've had about 6 or 7 different lift combos on my heep, ranging from 2-5" , so I know what I like. I was exaggerating with the fullwidths, shallow bs wheels helps a ton. But still, stupid high lifts are just that, stupid.

Yeesh. there's a lot more you can tune to accommodate a higher lift without fullwidths.

Makes me think yer the devil!

Check our www.rustysoffroad.com for an inexpensive 3" lift, $245 I think. I had one on my old XJ and it worked well, especially for the price. I had a little vibration, but it came with a TC lowering kit and that solved the problem.

ok where do i start ? was it the track bar that didnt fit and was junk to begin with?Or the weve recived the part back already i ll credit that back to your account today only to have to wait several more days and angry phone calls to actually get it ?Or was it the Swaybar discos he swore up and down would work with a 3 inch lift that caused the upper bolts to punch holes in my unibody you decide.

Well I also use the Superlift 3" Kit. I got the coils, rear AAL, and shocks. That was pretty much the kit. Since I have added shackles, and spacers, and a slew of other stuff to get to 4-4 1/2", in that area, well anyway the point being for what it is the superlift kit was fine, flexed nice, and gave a nice DD ride, if thats what I wanted I would do it again. Now on the flip side, if I had thought ahead and relized I would later make this a trail rig or have wanted it higher, I would have saved the money and bought a complete 4.5 or 6" kit, one that comes with EVERYTHING you'll need, then got a SYE and called it quits. So to you I would reccomend waiting and buying a quality 4.5" kit with upper and lower control arms, adjustable track bar, the whole thing, then get a SYE. I say this because it is a 2001 and a DD and by doing it right the first time you will save MAD MONEY and also maintain a near stock ride with off road capabilities. Good Luck

I had a 3" Rough Country on my '99 XJ and it was fine. No problems what so ever. Then later I added a budjet boost and shackels and it looked a lot better. It did need a track bar though but it got rid of it soon after. Now I hav a '98 5.9 and a '92 XJ again.

I am really digging my 3in BDS lift. It was under $500 for everything including the T-case drop, track bar bracket, AAL's, shocks, and springs... nice nice ride and looks mean.

I havent had any problems w the springs or the shorty AALs its just all the accessories that didnt fit that was such a pain.I am tickled todeath w my RE 1600 Track bar much beefier than the RC one I sent back.When its your kids life on the line by riding in your rig I dont recomend cheap lift components.

I have a RE budjet boost kit lying around.Since I didnt get but about 2.5 inches out of the RC springs do you think I could get away w running the spacers wOUt changing LCAs?Im wanting to run a set of interco 31s and in just not seeint the clearance there w my current setup.MY discos and Trac bar will eisily accomodate this . :us:

sorry i left that out its a 01 limited the cheapest 4.5 i found was around 800 i think and some 3 inch is like 350

I've also got an '01 limited, and I'm planning a piece together lift for about 3 inches. I've got the 242 tcase, and I like the Full Time during our Monsoons here. I'm planning on 3 inches for awhile. I figure much more than that and I'm screwing my front alignment/driveshaft angles and unusable Full Time. I've already got 3 inch Skyjacker front springs. Planning on new RE rear's at 3.5, new JKS LCA's, and track bar. We'll see what happens with the vibes at that height. I'll likely go with tcase drop until I can afford a SYE. Money is tight with a 1 year old running around :rattle: ...but he likes riding in the Heep, so we're gonna keep him!

Wait for the big lift, but practice wheeling with a stock rig, you would be suprised at what you can drive through with a stock rig and you will gain alot of experience on how to pick good lines.

I don't have a 3" kit, but I did purchase a Rough Country 4.5" lift and I have not had any problems. The guys there put together a special X series kit for me that included adjustable control arms and disco's. The kit cost me $899, but the 4.5 w\o the adjustable control arms is like $650 I think. I say wait for the 4.5 I would rather install one time and be done. Although I am upgrading this summer to the 6.5". I found some used 35" TSL's and I plan on using them.

If you go for a cheap 3 inches like I did, stay away from add a leafs. Mine broke within a few months wheeling. Go with a full leaf pack and also check that the kit works with your wheels backspacing.

I have a 3" BDS on my 01 XJ been on for about 3 months now and i love it.
The suspension has plenty of twist and rides pretty good.

When i originally posted i should have stated that BDS does buy some things from Superlift my BDS trackbar has a Superlift sticker on it and the shocks are bought from Superlift and all put in a BDS box.

you can order a black mountain 4.5" kit with springs for $495. They actually use rough country parts. solid stuff. the springs have a shim with them; no vibes for me at all. ill give you more info. if you want

I know some people here do not like rocky-road.com but I have been very happy with my temporary budget lift from them. About 150 for the 3" lift, and then if you want to really take advantage of that, then another 150 for shocks from them. It's spacer in the front, 1.5" shakles and 1.5" blocks in the rear.
