just curious cause the price is so good and my budget is so tight but is a 3" say superlift worth it? or should i just try to save for a larger lift?

I'VE been running a 3" superlift for close to a year and its been nice, when inchitis hit and i wanted bigger i added a BB to it(spacers and shackles) i also trimmed my fenders and soon will have 33's. go ahead and get it and have fun, you can always upgrade later.

If you'd have to wait two years then get the 3" and enjoy it. I've been running my Skyjacker 3" lift (which netted 3.5" front and 3" rear) for over four years now. I added longer shackles to give me 3.5" all the way around. When it was time to go bigger and I still didn't have money, I trimmed the fenders well and stuck 33's on there. They fit fine and it drives nicely.

if you are on a tight budjet as I am 3 inches is great especially for a daily driver ,personaly if I had it to do over i would have got REs 3.5 superide Just Stay away from Rough Country Dave is a lying Jagbag. NAXJA

im thinking its gonan be at 3'' for a while it was mine and my wife was driving a 5.9 but now im driving a commuter and shes driving that but we want to get an unlimited next year

first of all... what makes you think another inch lift kit will cost that much more?
i have seen 4.5 inch lift kits for pretty cheap as well. if u have an older jeep than you may not have to spend money on an sye. the bigger lift may be the route. you can always save money and go with dakota leaves and cheap coils and then some shackles and spacers.
if you have a newer jeep i suggest staying at 3 inches becasue it will save you a lot of money

sorry i left that out its a 01 limited the cheapest 4.5 i found was around 800 i think and some 3 inch is like 350

If it is for a 01 then that changes EVERYTHING!! I suspect you are talking about a SYE for a 3" lift if it is a daily driver right? The lift is cheap and you can pick your brand (personally I am not a superlift person) but you had better make sure you have sorted out what you are going to do with vibrations in the rear driveshaft before you install the lift. You might be able to get away with a transfer case drop and shimming, MAYBE!!

do some more searching for others with lifts on newer xj's first.

I'm pretty sure LYING JAGBAG falls into this catagory. You may want to elaborate your accusation.

Go with 3"
I've had my 97 above 4" and its just too high. I don't see how some of the guys around here with 6-7" can accomplish anything without fullwidths.
If you want to go cheap and you like to experiment, make your own custom lift. As of now I have RE 3" coils (Previously had ZJ coils with RE 2" spacer, which also worked very well) and a custom leaf pack: Stock pack with 2 more xj leaves thrown in plus 1" shackle. I previously used S10 leaf springs, but the ride sucked. NAPA shocks: YJ front, Explorer rear. Relocated front brakelines, YJ rear softline. I also have a JKS adj. trackbar, but when I first put in the RE spacers I didn't need it, because the axle barely moved. But this is something you should get. 4* Shims with RE hack n' tap and converted front shaft.

If you dont want to mess with putting together your own lift, go with RE. Their quality n' craftsmanship is top notch.

i was thinkin a 3" lift i think from black diamond. real cheap like $400 and if 3" is not enough then i might shackle up the rear and put coil spacers in the front

Y'ever wheeled before?
Yeesh. there's a lot more you can tune to accommodate a higher lift without fullwidths.

Makes me think yer the devil!

I have the Superlift 3" lift on mine. I got it for the price but had to add the following to get rid of death wobble:superlift steering stabilzer, adj. trac bar, longer lca's to correct caster, trans. case lowering kit to get rid of rear drive line vibes(I had it with only 3" of lift). Buy a kit that comes with all this and save yourself time and money. I did notice that Superlift includes the lca's in their kit now, didn't when I bought it. I like their shocks ride alot and the aal hasn't sagged at all after 2 years of daily driving and off roading.

I have a 3" BDS on my 01 XJ been on for about 3 months now and i love it.
The suspension has plenty of twist and rides pretty good.

just did a rustys 3" with full leafs. I got it used brand new. I was originally looking at the add-a-leaf kit which is reasonably priced.

I got way too much from the rear leafs, around 5", pulled the bottom leaf and Im sitting at about 4". The fronts gave me 3.25. I was kinda bummed, but I did get what I asked for! Its just that most lifts give more than advertised, like the rear end on this one! Im adding a 1 inch spacer to the front to bring it perfectly level. Im going to watch the for sale ads for LCA's and a track bar. The toe isnt too bad, I measured, Ill have it aligned when the spacers are in. I dropped the case about .75" with some aluminum square stock I had. It has very little vibes. Im going to use some 1x1 steel stock to drop it alittle more. The angles are good but the u-joints are near their max working limit. It rides good, almost too soft. All in all Im happy with it.

I have a 3" black diamond from some time ago. Overall, its okay, not that I have a lot of experience with lift kits, but the entire kit is too stiff for my taste. It came with front coils, LCA's, long rear AAL's, an emergency brake bracket relocation "bar", 4 shocks, indecipherable instructions and several stickers (woo hoo, like I'm seven years old). It started out giving me 5" in the front and 4.5" in the back. Which at the time surprised and I'm man enough to say frightened me a little. :) The front settled to exactly 3" after about a year and that is where it has stayed. The back also settled after a year, but down to 2.5". To do it again, I'd spend a bit more money and get a really good setup with lots more parts and a smoother ride in the first place.
