231 vs 242

How do I tell what transfer case I have, and what is better?

242 will have a Full time 4wd and a part time 4wd position on the shifter, the 231 will not have the Full time position.

i believe the torque rating on the 231 is a tad higher, but not enough that i would worry about it.

On the back of the t-case is a round tag, it will say 231 or 242. Also the shifter will have 2h,4h,Full Time 4, N , 4L. Juice
