ok guys need some help. My father owns a2001 blazer as the title states and was hoping someone had any ideas on what happened. Long story short I drove it from Denver down to Colorado springs to pick up some parts. On Sunday She ran fine the whole day. Oyeah it has only 61k miles and my dad is the Original owner. On Monday when he started her up it started clicking. Thought that it may just be the litters waiting for the oil to warm up. Same thing was still happening today and it got worse. So he took it in to the stealership and they said the litters collapsed, the intake gasket went bad and some bearings down by the oil pan seized up.WTF? They said the reason that the lifters collapsed was due to red lining it. This thing has always been babyed and has never had anyother engine issues. Any ideas?

no idea, but its 2001, the dealership has nothing to do with it, but making one on repairs.
take it to another shop, a trusted one or two and get a few opinions.

I guess if its a common issue they have maybe, but how can a mechanic say its caused by redlining it? Did they do tests that showed this? Or did others with this problem come in and admit they had redlined theirs and this is what happened?

sounds a little hokie to me.

yeah sounds like a scam to me. I am figuring that the oil pump was starting/ or has gone bad and thats what cause the clicking noise with the lifters. I wanted to scream at him when he took it to the stealership and let them do the work without calling me. He knows that the mechanic that I trust with my XJ is great, but he wasnt thinking( nothing new). Whatever cant do anything about it now that he dropped $2200 on it. Cant wait to talk to him tonight after he goes and picks it up.

I know this is a bit too late but GM rocker arms are bad about failing and spitting thier bearings into the oil pan. The side bearing seals are weak and rupture. Its pretty common and sounds like a lifter going bad. If you colapsed all the lifters you would know it lol.
