I have a 2000 Cherokee Sport 2 door. original exhaust and want to upgrade. I havnt had the time to peek under there but wondering if its the two outlet style or the 1 outlet style like listed below?

Which style header do i buy.

The 2000+ header like this

or the one labeled 99 and below like this

I know it sounds obvious, But I wasnt sure because the 2000+ header is listed as a wrangler header. Im getting my info off ebay, so I dont know if it can be trusted.

Yours is the two piece style. The one piece won't work. Your's also came with a two piece exhaust mainfold from factory. If it has the california emissions package, you have two small cats at your y pipe. One on each pipe. If it's federal emissions, you just have the y pipe which bolts-on to the front and rear exhaust manifolds.

Here is a pic of a california emissions 2000-04 header.

I would be able to use the 99 and below header if I bought a 99 and below down pipe or fabbed one, right?

FWIW, I have a 99 xj with a 2000 engine that the PO swapped in after the original motor seized up. It currently has the 99 and below exhaust manifold on it and I don't see any issues, but that's not to say it is 100% correct. The manifold is currently cracked, and I ordered the APN which is for 99 and below, so I will be doing that swap sometime in the next week. I guess if there are any differences, I will be finding out shortly.

Not to thread hijack, but I have a similar question regarding the Banks Revolver. On the banks website it labels it as being for 96-98 cherokees. I realize that the intake changed in 99', but I have a feeling they labelled it this way is because of the exhaust change in 2000.

I like the construction of the revolver over the torque tubes.

This is a little late but I would recommend not to because the you have 4 o2 sensors and 2 cats on the y-pipe. From what I was told, the only way to do that without getting a CEL was to get a pre-99 computer, that way it's not looking for the other o2 sensors.

I op'd to installing a borla 2 piece header. I got one for a TJ and it fits perfectly and didn't have to deal with the headaches. Complete bolt-on.

I only have 2 O2 sensors. Frankly I've never seen a 99 with 4 O2 sensors. That's the only thing holding me back?

Look at the exhaust manifold you have now; if it's a one piece manifold, buy a one piece header. If it's a two piece manifold, don't.

Vendors and manufacturers can and do get their information wrong. There are plenty of parts that say they fit this or that year when they don't, have the wrong sizes listed, list breaks by year incorrectly, etc. You could also check to see what head you have; that's another way to figure out what will fit and won't.

You didn't say what year you have, but I don't believe any 99s had the four O2 sensor, two piece header setup. I believe that was only the 2000s with CA emissions, and the 2001s.
