since these are so quick i thought id just ask separately.

1.) putting on the sliders, can i drill through the frame rail and bolt all the way through (both sides not just one like self tappers) or is that bad?

2.) does anyone know if i can hook a thermometer to my transmission? AW4. I have one and if i can hook it up idk where to do that at.

Thanks guys

Through the frame with a sleeve. Tap into the tranny output line with a T and some how get the sensor touching the fluid.

When I was mounting those I looked into the sleeve thru the frame and decided self tappers like jcr would be easiest. Especially on the driver side with the fuel lines and what not. Measure the hole on the legs and let me know the size, I can try to pick up some self tappers here at the hardware store and ship them? I think they were 1/2 in if I remember right.

cool cool thanks again guys.

so i looked at the end of the cable for the temp gauge and i think it might plug right into the drain plug hopefully!

and i think im going to call JCR to mail some to me unless you have the size up there. theyre 3/4 for the frame holes. and 1/2 for the pinch seems. i dont need the seems just the 3/4 bolts. im wondering if i go smaller it will hold as well.

Sam you should just call fastenal. Tell them you need x amount of 3/4" self tapping bolts and they will get them in for you. And they're local, and likely way cheaper than jcr will be, especially after you add shipping.

Edit: here's the number for the fastenal store in Dublin. (925)828-7291

On second thought, are you sure they're 3/4" bolts? Sounds pretty darn big for sliders.

ya theyre 3/4 checked w a different bolt. ya ik its huge but thats the size of the hole on the sliders i dont want to go down in size because theyll wobble around some. and np forcefull lama. ill just order some. just wanted to ask these questions. thanks guys

and thanks kevin, ill give them a call.

I can't remember what we talked about the other day, but the if the head of the bolt uses a 3/4" socket, the diameter of the threads is likely going to be 1/2". I bet if you measured the diameter of the hole with a tape measure it will be roughly 1/2".

Can't remember if we talked about this yesterday or not haha

yeah so i talked to my dad too and he just laughed. i was thinking i had to go by the head of the bolt and not the shaft. i feel so dumb right now its not funny.

thanks for putting up with my noobie knowledge.

i will order 1/2. Thanks guys again. hope you all had a very merry Jeep Christmas!

Fun fact... Whitworth fasteners are labeled by head size. Just tell everyone you haven't driven anything but an old Morgan until now and they'll think you're weird but understand. But yes SAE and metric fasteners are sized by the major diameter of the thread.

Why not just weld them on?
Btw, mine are bolted on with 5/16x3/4 long bolts. I used a tap to thread the holes.

I will never weld anything directly to the uniframe again. unless it's frame stiffeners

Having seen a couple sets tear away from the frame with the self tapping bolts, I suggest frame stiffeners be done first. Then either run sleeves and regular bolts. Or weld them.
