'95 Mercury Grand Marquis

Hey I tried posting this in the off-topic but it wouldn't let me, so I figured I could post it up here.

So after my grandfather passed away in March, we inherited this car with 45k miles on it and well maintained. Well, speed up to the recent snowstorms over here...

My mother was driving the car up the slick driveway and must have overrevved the crap out of it. It no longer blows out hot air, but lukewarm air. One of my dad's friends who's a mechanic said that there is a plastic part on the intake that tends to break when you beat the crap out of it. Just wondering if anyone had any personal experience with it.

I had a 92' (same as 95) air ride suspension and leather full trim 4.6L and factory dual exhaust. I loved that car. I drove accross canada 1.5 times with it no problems.

Whatever it is fix it. Great highway car.... plus depending on colour, people will slow down when your stopped on the side of the highway taking a leak they'll think your a cop car its kinda funny everytime you'll see their brake lights go on as they pass

I'll take a stab and say it might be a loose or leaky vacuum hose to either the heater valve or or one of the blend doors :dunno:-----------Hans

Yes they have a plastic coolant crossover on the intake that can crack, is it leaking externally anywhere you can see? What does you temp gauge look like, does it reach a normal operating temp? Blend door issues are also not unheard of on ford vehicles, though I havent really seen many on C-vic's or grand marquis.

It definitely doesn't get up to operating temp, and we replaced the thermostat in it already.

Someone on another forum said something about resetting the climate control?

if mthe motor doesn't reach operating temp why are you worried about the HVAC controls.
Fix the motor issue and I bet you'll get plenty of heat.
have you checked the coolant level?

Hey thanks for all your help guys. We changed the thermostat out for a Ford one and it seemed to sit better. Flushed out the heater core, and also changed the sending unit for the temp gauge. 100% better now.
