1992 Cherokee Sport Questions

Not sure if this is the right forum for this. Im new to posting but have been reading alot of articles. Lots of good stuff here. I picked up a 1992 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0HO recently and the headliner was sagging so I pulled it out. I found the 3 roof supports were welded on the driver side. I dont know why though. The roof is ok that I can see. Anyone know why they would do this? Thanks.

If you look at the spot welds inside of the panel, it looks liek there was some type of bodywork done to the roof. I think i can see where some bodyfiller is coming through , to the rear of that support(in the picture).

Looks like somebody did a Bubba job on the roof to repair some damage.
