I would like to know how many different manual transmissions was used in the 1990 4.0 Jeep Cherokee. I would like to know if that Peugeot junk was offered then too?

One automatic -- AW4.
5-speed was the AX-15. I think the Peugeot was phased out in mid-89. (But it might have been mid-90)

The Peugeot was phased out in mid-89 in favor of the AX-15. My late-build 89 XJ had the AX-15. That should be the only manual tranny behind the 4.0L
