$150 XJ in Fort Fun

What's your plans with it Jim? Gonna try to get a title and keep it? Saw you had your black one up for sale so I'm just curious.

What kind of lift is under it?

I'm glad you got it running/working! And yeah, my wife does thank you! :D I still have that black '89 in pieces over here that I need to deal with, the white '96 still needs a radiator, ps pump, brake work and the rain leaked into the rear cargo area re-constituting what smells like some spilled milk...... that has gone super sour :puke: so I gotta pull that carpet out. And then there's the unfinished bumper for the Heep and all it's needs.......... :D I have plenty going on over here so you enjoy!

In short, you will get 20-25 power assisted stops if the pump fails...Glad you brought it up, since I wasn't counting how many times I stopped!!
LOL From what I'm seeing, your are missing the pump and the pressure vessel. That's what I found so intriguing about your brakes still working. Our pump has quit before, we still had brakes, it just took my size 12 to supply the power.

Here is something to think about if you intend to drive this one:

The swap is a good idea for a keeper, This one is just parts. So now I need to find some one who is willing to help me get it home. AAA bailed when I refused to lie and tell them it was registered, and I forgot the plates. The operator was actually trying to coach me and tell me what to say, even while the call was being recorded! I don' like dishonesty, so I just kept telling him the truth, and he said they could not tow it, swell. I need to move it before wed. of next week, I don't want ot wear out my welcome as far as the guys at Bowers' go, and I just feel bad letting it sit there for so long. So, anyone want to help me out sometime? I will compensate for time and gas as best I can, I 'm just in kind of a bind with no tow rig or trailer. Thanks again, Jim.

Ha! Bowers and timeframes? Those words don't go together very well, but that's another story. :) Most tow truck operators could care less about what's going on the back, make a few more phone calls. Shouldn't cost too much, how far do you have to go?

Greeley. Some of the estimates are between 130.00-170.00. 300.00 is still a steal, but I AM a cheap bastard, and I thought I would ask around first. If all else fails, I'll have superior drag it back Mon. or Tues. Good to know I can hide it behind the Fj-80 back there and no one will care! Jim

Got it home today, what a PITA! It was worth it, but wow. So I called the tow company at lunch today and set an appointment for 3:00p to have them meet me at Bowers. I arrived at 2:50p and waited until 3:00p, 3:25p,3:40p, phone never rang, 3:50p,4:00p. So I called to see what the deal was. I was told they were buisy and could not get a driver there for another hour, cool no biggie. Went to Whole Foods and bought groceries (I have celiac disease, no wheat, barley, starch, ect.), and got back to Bowers at 4:55p. "Perfect timing." I thought to myself, 5:00p,5:30p,5:50p, still no call! Six o'clock rolls around and I call them, only to be told all our drivers are out on other calls. Well, is'nt that why I called and made an appt.? "Well sir I don't know what to tell you, but we've had so many calls since you contacted us. There is just nothing we can do for you now." UNREAL! I started driving home, and called to give them the exact address' for pick-up and delivery, again, just to be sure. And to ask them to call me when the driver was in Greeley. Around 7:30p I got the call, "Our driver is in town, and will be able to meet you in ten minutes." Sweet! Turns out the operator told the driver to give me a hard time because I was so unreasonable on the phone, I know because he told me. He rememberd me from a couple weeks ago when he dragged the little red one with no axles away, and wanted to hear my side of the story. Told him, and he was so embarassed, by the operator, he let me know there would be no charge! I gave him a $50.00 for his trouble, and that was that. I need to buy a trailer before I try and do this again!! So now to post up a list of parts for sale, keep an eye out it's comming soon! Jim.

A good one most of the time. It worked out, and the owner himself called to say how sorry he was that something like this happened. So I won't mention the name of the company, they have done an excellent job every other time I have dealt with them. And in the long run they tried their best to make things right.
