So there's another Troy-mobile up here for sale. NO TITLE

87-90 era, Limited, oh boy. Brown, I might recall a little rust but I believe it's straight. 180K miles, supposedly runs and drives, parked due to no title. It has the crappy ABS system and the owner robbed a small part but the rest of the brakes are still there. Complete otherwise as far as I know. It's lifted with half worn 32 11.50's and a D35. Renix 4.0, I don't recall manual or auto, 231 or 242, sorry.

PM gets a phone number.

OK sorry about that.. super slammed w/ stuff this week.. I'll just put the pics and info up here. The XJ's at Bowers Racing Engines on 287 south of FoCo. The owner's name is Dennis, but you'll have to call Bret at 970-222-6866 to get Dennis's number.

Last pic shows the missing ABS part. Once again, no title. Both front door panels are gone.

If it is getting parted out, I may want the headliner. and some interior plastic.

Hopefully Jim got it. I passed mostly because of the 140 mile round trip..... that was a big step for me! :laugh3:

Yea I got it. You are making progress Troy. Just remember, steps 6-12 are the hardest.I am here for you, well not me but someone must care about your recovery.Just kidding, no one cares!!! Jim.

Well it runs!!!! I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the help. It was, is, and always will be a GM ignition, Thanks to Old Man for the fuel pump and extra tools, I'll swing them back by saturday. LET THE BIDDING BEGIN!!! I will start posting parts as soon as I get it home. Big thanks again,Jim.

Jim, what's the whole story? Did you get it running in Bowers' parking lot and drive it off? Inquiring minds want to know... :D

The guys over there were looking at me funny taking pics of the old hooptie, but I told 'em somebody'd snag it up.

Well, I went down Thurs. and took a quick look, called dude and whala'. It didn't have keys so I swapped in a new ignition cylinder, and put in a new surge tank(also missing), and got it to crank. But there was no fuel pressure at the rail, headed for the parts store and I remembered the little back and forth between "old man" and myself this morning. He had offered up some sensors if need be. Soo, long story longer, I gave him a ring and sure enough he had an extra renix style pump. I buzzed over and after a quick chat I had a brand new used fuel pump for free!!! (Big thanks again Tom) Now I had every thing I needed(with the exception of a mallet, big flat head, and a gas can.... ..Got those from Tom as well. Did I say thanks?) I dropped the new/used pump in with a little fresh gas, jumped it and sure enough IT WAS RUNNING! Took it for a spin around the flea markets to re-calibrate the IAC, and it purrs like a kitten, ok ok a kitten with a hole in the muffler, but still. Going to fill and burp the cooling system, sunday when I get back from Grey's peak, and drive it home. Glad you posted it up, sorry Troy. If nothing else your wife likes me that much more, even if she doesn't know it!!!:roflmao: Just kidding! Jim

So the brakes work without the accumulator or pressure pump installed? Interesting!

Looking at the pics, it's 2/3 of the way through removing the Bendix ABS.

They were designed (poorly) to operate without ABS. The brakes themselves were uneffected. I was thinking the same thing but I had it explained to me by my buddy who is a mechanic. I does make sense though, I run my 96' in a similar fashion, the brakes work even without the ABS.

EDIT: Just researched the older style abs, and found it is an integral abs system. In short, you will get 20-25 power assisted stops if the pump fails, meaning I will either be replacing the missing parts(fortunatly I have a full 89' abs system to spare), or I will be using one of my AAA tows if I don't have the time. Glad you brought it up, since I wasn't counting how many times I stopped!!
