Myself and a friend or two are headin to TSF tommorrow morning about 9-10 to scout out the recent trail closures and get a first hand account of what they are doing. For those who don't know the forest service has been blocking and closing many of the trails over the last week or two for no rhyme or reason. And we're not talking about the yearly seasonal closures. Waterfall was closed last week, can opener was redone to be stock 2wd friendly, and several other trails have been blocked off and closed.

Rumor is that because of lack of attendance from the 4wd crowd at the monthly meetings they are putting most the money towards motorcycle trails and closing the 4wd trails.

So anyways, we're going to get pics and see whats up to arm ourselves for the next meeting. If anyone else is gonna be there we'll be running CB channel 7. And I heard that they had several inches on the ground as of this morning and was snowing most the day.

I would really like to know the results of your research/scouting.

Where is information for TSF meetings available? I would make the drive to attend them if I could. I'm sure my dad would be very pleased to go as well(he works for the US Forest Service and is always interested in that stuff).

Here is the info I got from the website. Not sure if it is correct as I was told the meetings were on a Tuesday but I'm sure once could find out for sure with the contact info.

Forest Grove and Tillamook districts have a combined Trail Planning Meeting the last Monday of every month open to the public.

For a location and meeting time please call or email Kelly Foster (OHV Program Coordinator)

The website is here: http://egov.oregon.gov/ODF/TSF/ohv.shtml

There is an ongoing thread over on timbercrawler.com about the recent closures and what we can try to do to help fix it.

Are you going to be there at 10? Or you're leaving for there at 10? Either way I have a quick meeting I have to be to out in Clackamas at 10am, but after that I'm free. If you guys are planning on being down there awhile, I'll head down and meet you.

Actually, we're meeting at the 24 hours starbucks in Beaverton. The one at Fred Meyers right off of 217. Gonna meet there at 8 for some coffee then head out. Will probably get there around 9 or so and should be there a couple hours. Don't plan on doing much on the trails, trying to keep it a carnage free exploration if you wish. More so just to get some pictures and such.

If thats true, that really blows... but I'm curious as to where you heard this information? I find it hard to believe

Sounds like a good time. I'm curious as well to know what trails are/aren't still open. If I were to meet you there around 11:30, would you still be there for a few hours? Also, are they requiring traction devices yet?

I'll try hard to be at the 24 Hour Sbux by 8. I have a digital camera, and video camera.

Yeah, Dvipercop, you should roll in.

Well, its kinda dissapointing at TSF right now. We were there most the day and ran the bottom of Firebreak and Powerline and thats it. Crushers was open but we weren't tackling that. Everything else was closed. Didn't make it up to Canopener but its been confirmed that it is so smooth now that its not a challenge and rumored to be closed.

Met up with PDXXJNOOB and he followed all day. Really impressive where he went in his stocker. Everytime I thought he would have problems I would stop and look back to see him climbing right along.

Really wish I could've made it out there. Got stood up at my appointment and figured it would be to late by the time I got down there. Sad to hear that alot of the trails are closed.

Here's a couple shots I took while we were out there though.

Great pictures! I wish I could afford a nice set up like that.

I'm still curious as to where you heard these rumors about TSF possibly closing the 4wd trails? Since the winter months are coming up, there will be some trail closures until the weather dries out. They also do occasional timber sales which could close a few trails but doesnt mean they are going to stay closed.

you can watch www.pnw4wda.org for updates, they have land management members who keep up to date on this stuff and I havent seen anything about this...

if the rumors are true, we need to get crackin and stop this bunk

Hearing the rumors from others such as myself who went up to go wheelin only to find closed trails. They've closed most of everything indefinatly due to "erosion concerns" as their signs state.
