anyone got experiences with these? id like to get one with a 5spd but are impossible to find locally, how are the automatics with these things? what else should i look for? it will serve as my DD/tow rig(towing a 95XJ on 60's and 38's) , 95% of my wheelin is within 30mins with a yearley trip to Rausch Creek 800 mile round trip

trevor towed his XJ on a with his quad cab short bed 1500 hemi auto and it did great. kept up with the diesels on flat no issues, stopped fine with uhaul trailer brakes (better with a real trailer with eletric brakes tho) and its a nice comfy DD.

FWIW, a friend of mine towed my 99 CTD over 600 miles last summer with a 2009 Ram 1500. Technically, it was a couple of hundred lbs. over it's rated towing capacity. Both of us were quite surprised at how well it towed. I would not want to do that all the time, it won't win any races, and braking was acceptable. Both transmission and diff did not overheat (gotta love I/R thermometers.)

For towing an XJ on a flatbed, a 2500 Hemi should have no trouble at all, except maybe passing a gas pump.

Have a 04 2500 Quad, Hemi, auto, 4X4 with 3.73 gears, tows 5000lb with no problem at 5000 feet above sea level, has to shift down pulling hills, gets about 11-12MPG pulling loaded trailer.
