    XJ failing inspection -- Readiness

Hmm. I haven't heard of this as an option. Jeep said there wasn't anything they could doz

    XJ failing inspection -- Readiness

*update* Took the jeep to a friend at the dealer. His scanner showed a P0463 ( fuel sending unit voltage too high ). The gauge HAS been acting up and it currently "stuck" at empty. Not sure if this could cause any type of interference or malfunction. Going to check the grounds/connections and...

    XJ failing inspection -- Readiness

This is as high as it ever gets. I'm going to look into getting the recommended OBDII scanners mentioned here.

    XJ failing inspection -- Readiness

Update: just had the sensors checked. All three still read "inc". Rhode Island has now suspended the registration for the vehicle which introduces an entirely new issue: how am I supposed to rack up miles of its not legal to drive? Any idea what the cycles are for the XJ?

    XJ failing inspection -- Readiness

I'm not sure what the system contains, like I mentioned I haven't had the jeep for very long. I've put another 100 miles on the jeep -- gonna try and have it scanned again tomorrow. I'll update as soon as I know.

    XJ failing inspection -- Readiness

One thing someone mentioned was also about those heating and cooling cycles. I noticed that the operating temperature never fully reaches 210 ("noon" on the temperature gauge). Stays half a tick away. Not sure if this is normal or if it could be causing the XJ to not consider itself at...

    XJ failing inspection -- Readiness

Worded it strangely -- it has been driven 300 miles since the scan that revealed the sensors were not ready.. And they still show not ready. Truck has been subjected to different types of driving; highway, city, traffic etc.

    XJ failing inspection -- Readiness

Hey guys. It's been awhile but I've got back into the XJ world. Got a white 99 with 79k for a steal few weeks back. Needed some exhaust work and tires, but it's otherwise mint. Brought it for inspection and it failed the OBDII readiness check. The Cat, Emissions, and Evap systems come up as not...

NP231 shifter "stud" thread size ??

Hey guys! Just got another XJ.. This ones gonna be long armed with waggy 44's and boatsides. Just a quick question.. Just did the NP231 SYE and rebuild but somehow lost the nut that secures the linkage the stud on the NP231. Just need a thread size for it if anyone knows. Have looked around...

    Steering box trouble

So without the spacer in place, the mounting holes aren't actually mounting flush.. I see. So get a new spacer?

    Steering box trouble

Hey guys, been awhile, but still rocking the XJ. Last weekend I heard a pop while on some rocks, got out to find the steering box hanging lifelessly by the steering column and lines, all three bolts had snapped. Spent the day drilling out the bolt shafts, but theres no where I could tap them...

    Ball Joint Woes

Tore down the '92 today to replace a faulty upper ball joint. I originally drove to the parts store with the intention to do both, but they only stocked the Moog 70-something dollar joint, so I left with just the upper and the removal kit. Got the upper in fairly easy (though it WAS a POS and...

    Toughen up a 242???

80% of the time, getting into gear is no problem. Once it's in gear, and I'm on an obstacle, sometimes it will make a loud POP and I lose all drive

    Toughen up a 242???

I don't mean to hijack in anyway -- but I also have a question regarding rebuilding a 242. My 242 currently is currently on the fritz. Sometimes it will engage no problems, sometimes it won't go into "gear". When it does go it, it commonly slips out of drive and I have to wrestle with it to get...

Skyjacker 6" lift -- what shims?

Hey guys, The PO of my jeep had a Skyjacker 6" lift installed. The lift came with the drop brackets for the LCAs, and the crossmember drops the transmission about 1". I guess they had a problem with the aluminum shims cracking and breaking, and the same has happened to mine. I know each lift...
