D30 hub history
I picked up a driver's side shaft out of a 98 xj w/abs. Mine is an 86. While installing it, I noticed that the new shaft doesn't fit quite right. Maybe the hub is different. If I picked up the hub that went with this shaft, would it work on my setup? I don't know my xj hub...
I read that thread when I did my searching, and that post by Rawbrown is the only evidence I have found that there is a difference between the c-clip and non c-clip Trac-Loks.
Thanks for the posts guys...Still trying for a solid answer on this though. I guess I need a post from someone who has...
Does anyone know the REAL answer? I have searched and only found conflicting answers.
Situation is this: I can get a D35 Trac-Lok for almost nothing out of a non-clip axle. I want to know if I will still be able to put my c-clips back in if I install the Trac-Lok in my c-clip axle.
I assume...
One of the guys in our group was in an XJ with only 3" lift, 31" tires, and open. He made it everywhere we went, and we were on the trail for 8 hours.
If you want to try Elbe in a stock XJ, just hit the "Mainline" trail. The trails are well marked now.
We hit the trail around noon yesterday and didn't see pavement again until around 9pm. Our group included two XJs, one CJ, one YJ, and one TJ Rubicon. We ran the mainline and the busywild trails. The tallest tires were 33's and the only ones locked up were the Rubicon and CJ.
The ground is...
Why not just pick up a disco 30 w/ 4.10's to put in and then get rid of your non-disco w/ 3.55's? Seems like that would be cheaper than having a shop put new gears in.
You should be able to pick up a disco 30 w/ 4.10's at a junkyard for less than $100. Use washers to engage the collar or throw...

It is actually a 13mm 12 point for the hub bolts.
This is true, however if the hub is fairly stubborn, it may be very difficult to remove without the hub bolt off. A really big hammer might work, but it is a lot easier and less abusive if you remove the hub bolt and then use a puller to get...
The purpose of this thread was actually to find out if anyone knows of any vehicle that has a longer shaft I might be able to find and a junkyard and swap in.
I appreciate the input, opinions, and advice...but really I am just looking for a longer drive shaft.

As you can see from this picture, my rear is lifted more than my front. The rear consists of a D44 w/ 6" Rusty's and MJ shackle. The front is currently a D30 w/ skyjacker 3" coils and teraflex 2" spacer, and a lot of weight with the warn front bumper and a winch. I want to throw in some...
