I would say the 8274 is one of the better winches ever made, but like moose said, it's heavy and large. Might be worth selling it and buying something a little more compact for an XJ.
My Cherokee had a Flowmaster 50 series and it wasn't loud at all but had a decent rumble.
I think on my next project I'm going with a 40, but from what it sounds like, a 50 might be perfect for you.
Speaking of temperature sending unit, I need to change mine out but I'm having a hell of a time getting to it because there is so much stuff in the way. Any tricks to that?
