When I installed my header the intake was not seated all the way to the block. As much as it sucks pull it back apart and try again. You might be able to loosen the bolts and seat the intake.
Well I have some 33" BFG MT on steel wheels I also get around 13-14mpg...with my 4.56's. I swapped with a friend who had 35" buckshots with alum. wheels I got around 15-16.... so Idk if it was the wheels or the tire sizew but it did improve my mileage.
I have bushwackers... I believe my fender will come off before those bushwackers break... I do have a 2door tho so I dont have the 2 piece rears...
So yeah my vote is bushwackers..
JAS that is because you have the pre 97 hinges on yours... I have a 2000 and did the second write up... and some of the first... they are both good. Anyways just remember to mark your stock alignment.

IIRC OBD2 didn't start in jeeps til 96... I maybe wrong tho. To keep this on topic my buddy has a 81 toyota PU (single cab short bed) and we do trade off on our wheeling adventures... I personally like the stabilty that a SUV provides... the truck is just to light on the rear. So one more for XJ
Being a 2001 you have a sealed tcase yoke anyway.... so you can drive it with no rear drive shaft... At least I think so... (its late and I have had my SYE for to long to remember)
well I know with mine (4.56, 33's) I was getting 17 with my stock eccos and the 33's I then went to the cragers.... yep now down to 14.... mostly city but still.

Hmmm... I have them on my 2000 2dr. I have to say they don't crack, they pull your fender out!!! I put nuts on the back side of the bolts and once while wheeling, I came a little to close to a stump and POP fender folded out. Bushwacker was a lil scratched tho.
Just guessing... I think I know you.... But if it were me and since you had a Short AAL. I would find a set of springs from a newer XJ then the top 2 leafs of some s10 springs. I have got my friends XJ to sit at around 5" in the rear with that set up. On the front you can either buy new coils or...
Yeah I was "that friend" lol. I run 4.5" and 33's and that was the first time I ever did that. I would really recommend them tho. I'll be there at around 8:30am.
