Thats bad information! A 10.9 bolt has greater shear strenght than an identical 8.8 bolt. Also, I agree about getting AMERICAN made products, but you will have a hard time finding US made fasteners even at an nut and bolt shop.

No, I removed them except for on the far ends. There was no way that I could see to keep the clips.

I wrapped some split rubber tubing around them, and secured it with zip ties where it was touching the bolts.
