    Shopping for a tow vehicle

That about sums it up right there. Another thing to be aware of is many diesel trucks seem to eat up auto trannies around the 100K mark. Mildly beefed up replacements run 3K or so. I have a 2005 Chevy 1500HD crew cab short box 4x4 with the 6.0 as a work vehicle. It has the turning radius of a...

    Hamburger Recipes

Try and find a Tupperware or similar burger press; that will make a perfect patty that grills correctly. A proper hamburger requires NO OTHER INGREDIENTS BESIDES BEEF! Make sure that you aren't using lean beef, the lack of fat keeps the meat from staying together. If your grocery store sells...

    pulling a pop up

I actually use an adjustable one with a "convert-a-ball;" that keeps me from having multiple single use tow set-ups in the garage.

    pulling a pop up

The camper came with 4.80x8 tires, and after the SOA I slapped on a pair of 5.30x12s. There is room for 13s without issues, which is impressive considering mine has the wheels completely under the chassis and no wheel wells. I would prefer to use 13" trailer radials and might switch to those...

    pulling a pop up

I tow a pop-up with my XJ. Jeep has 4.5" lift/32s/4.56s and the camper tips in at about 1500lbs when loaded for the weekend. I did a spring-over on the camper so that it can handle rough logging roads a little better.

Anyone get the Ford ax today?

The plant closings and layoffs are supposed to be a phased restructuring that is to be completed by 2012

    Front D44 with 5x4.5 BP

It' not a rumor - Dodge half ton 4x4s had the small pattern that era. The wheel bearings are notoriously weak.

    Stand alone 4.0 for J-10

I would go this route: http://www.4wd.com/shop/productdetail.asp?c=8&model=cj&subcat=&division=5&category=313&productsku=P5249686AD It might seem like it costs more up front, but I think would be a better fit for the J-Truck and give you a lot fewer headaches. You could retain the extra...

    Giving Wal-Mart the Finger...

Well then that is good news for the local auto parts stores isn't it?

    Giving Wal-Mart the Finger...

This position that Snapper is taking is exactly how small businesses can and do prosper in the shadow of a MegaloMart - offer something different/better. It's no front page news that Wallyworld sells crappy $99 mowers or $49 bicycles. That's fine and there is obviously a market for it or they...

    Nice loud horn.

Late 70s Caddys and Lincolns have some pretty impressive electric horns on them.

cheapest way to get my spare outta my trunk!?

    1. Leave it home and carry a patch kit and air compressor. 2. Rig up a tall/skinny spare tire & wheel that is close to the same diameter as your tires
