Thanks for the responses. So far I've only located an 01 with 72k for $6k. Wisconsin vehicle. Not many 98-99s out there. My previous XJ was so pristine that it's hard being realistic about vehicle condition.

I read the L.A. comments section. Lotsa nonsense but there was about an even split between pro/anti ohv points of view. Sierra club is clearly an enemy of the OHV community.

If I were to do the "mail it to someone out of state and then mail it to me", would they be able to tell the difference (smog shops)?

CAT is toast. $1200 from a dealer. Do I have any other options? TIA

No check engine light is on...so, I'm at a loss as I am not an emissions guru:rof: edit: I did the seafoam treatment too. no improvement (failed second time).

I failed smog and need some work done (maybe cat and/or ox sensor). Anyone know of good people/shops I can take it too. 2000 XJ. Here's the print out and I have a thread in the OEM section.

thanks for the responses. I'll try to get the rest of the numbers posted later today. I'm also going to try the sea foam treatment and I don't remember if it was fully hot when tested. It was probably close, but that may make all the difference.
