Same thing happened to me and my 2000XJ had to go to mechanic. A valve in the oil pump had gotten stuck and caused the pressure to build up. New oil pump and back in business.
Running good for a few months now with good oil pressure.
Well I took off the whole thing and it looked like the tower may have just snapped inward and off the rail but didn't actually break.
Has anyone had this happen before? I checked and I can't find any breakage. I think it may still be usable.
Since I had the rack off I decided to leave the...
I got a little overzealous at the lumber yard last week and broke my front crossbar. I'm going to just get rid of the crossbars for now.
Is there anything to be gained by also taking off the rails? I have a Torx screwdriver set, so it should be easy, but don't know if the silicone-filled...
2000 XJ Sport No Start Final Report:
Valve in oil pump was stuck and caused pressure to build in oil filter (to the point it blew off when the engine was revved). Engine was not getting any lift causing no start. Replacement of oil pump, fie quarts of oil, labor, TAX (in Manhattan) = $480.00...
I banged on the starter, no luck. The belt started turning though. I couldn't get it going so I gave up and got a local mechanic to come over. He tried starting it a few times and looked at different parts of the motor while doing so.
Then he kept the key turned for about 10-15 seconds...
Depends where and when, weekdays in midtown or downtown will run you more than your housing costs. Luckily the garage I'm stuck in is from my job and free, otherwise I would have be paying out at least $35 a day. Also no standing tickets are $115.
It is insane!
No luck. I tapped it a few times while some one turned the key: this time the belt turned, but the engine wouldn't turn over.
Now I have to push it out of a basement garage to a tow.
He said I'll probably only have one shot and to keep it running until I make it to the shop. I check the battery, tried starting it in neutral and checked the belt to be sure it wasn't bound up. The motor is just not turning when the igintion is fired.
I'm going to give it a "bang" tomorrow...
My 2000 stock XJ seems to have out-lived her starter.
Right now though it is stuck in an underground garage. I was going to push it out to a tow which would be a production, then a mechanic I know told me if I bang on the starter with a hammer while some one turns the ignition it should start...
Thanks 99!
I'll try that out in the next few days. I've been driving around in my wifes Hyundai the last few days. You wouldn't believe how dangerous it feels to drive around NYC with no directionals.
2000 Sport (forgot to add to original post)
The green light does not freeze or stay on. The green light stops working when the flashers do. The hazard function seems to work fine.
I need help, couldn't find anything by searching.
My directionals have stopped working correctly. When I put on my signals the arm functions as normal, however the signals and indicators stop after between one and five flashes.
I've had some training in child seat installs, the tethers make a big difference in the videos they showed us. They also told us that something like 85% of baby seats are installed incorrectly.
The extra work is worth it. Another tip the makers of these seats suggest is putting your knee...
EXACT same thing in my 2000. There is a lot of stuff on here if you search. I have read a lot of it, but continue to lock and unlock my door manually.
Good luck and if you beat me to it please post what the exact problem was, as I am not putting too much effort in to finding out currently...
