    2004 Axle&Diff off Liberty - fit XJ?

Hi, there's an auction for a 2004 Dana 44 out of a NZ Cherokee, which is called the Liberty in the States. Will it fit under an XJ? Especially Width? I know I'd need to cut off the coil spring mounts and add ones for the leafs - but it's CHEAP and nearly a decade newer than my D35C. Has the...

Lift planning in New Zealand Part1, Lift kit Q's

Digging found that RE's kits all have the straight arms. Bummer. Based on the other stuff, it may be them anyway. Anyone know of an RE kit with bent LCAs?

Lift planning in New Zealand Part2, SYE Q's

Steve - Very good point, and one that those in the states really can't relate to. Hard enough finding them at ALL in the yards here, and the parts are 'quite dear', as they say. Others about driveshaft - thanks for the input (more is welcome!). I think I will be having a shaft make locally, but...

Lift planning in New Zealand Part2, SYE Q's

Well, looks like it'll probably be the re-machined shaft for me, then. Ouch, though, on the price... Mitchen - I've read here in the forums that using a front DS is a little risky based on the strength of them. Have you had any issues? Anyone else have ideas about shafts, then? Opinions on...

Lift planning in New Zealand Part1, Lift kit Q's

Wow, thanks, bubba! Especially about the shock mount contact with the straight arms. The articulation in front will be needed on these steep beaches, so I think that narrows it right off the bat. I've read the same comments about the RE packs giving better than listed lift before, but have...

    Wobble/shimmy at 30 then 60MPH, *not* tires - help?

Update and thread closer: It was the ball end on the Panhard rod / track bar. With nobody else to turn the wheel while I was under it, it took a while to isolate the issue. Thanks all for the input!

    Wobble/shimmy at 30 then 60MPH, *not* tires - help?

jap813 - Dust, huh. Well maybe I need to look closer. whitexj98 - No, but will this wkend. Robs92XJ - It measured up fine last I checked it (couple months now) - less than a mm out. (Garage-style method, two rods - extend, clamp, relocate and compare...) OK, all: I have a weekend plan- 1)...

    Wobble/shimmy at 30 then 60MPH, *not* tires - help?

Aaron- Posted in the thread starter that I did a wiggle check under it while chasing another issue. Nothing seems out of sorts to me, but I am not exactly expert on this stuff. The mechanic I took it to for that issue also did not note anything awful, just old and worn.

    Wobble/shimmy at 30 then 60MPH, *not* tires - help?

1995 XJ VIN with 1996 registration and interior trim. UpCountry package, stock everything. 4.0, AW4 with oil-cooler, NP242, D30.front, D35C.Trac-Lok.rear, 3.55 ratio. Issue: -Wobble/shimmy that "feels like" a wheel balance issue. -Sensation is mostly felt through feet, very little steering...

NP242 Front Shaft Slop - information needed

THE ISSUE WAS THE YOKE BOLT BEING LOOSE. (my # 3 in the opening post) Tightened the bolt holding the yoke to the output shaft, and there is no longer any wiggle in any direction. NOTE for those finding this thread: The play FELT as if it was the shaft, and the feel with one hand on the case...

NP242 Front Shaft Slop - information needed

anthrax323- Thanks for the input. It *does* feel like the slop is right where the shaft exits the case. And i'm bummed to hear you say what has been in the back of my head - that the shaft may be damaged. But with the cost of the shaft and the extra work involved, I am going to gamble that it...
