I have 2 of them on my shop floor. One was jumping out of low range under hard use, other one I installed an advanced adapters slip yoke eliminator and was still good when I swapped to a 231 case. They were in my 99 xj auto. Let me know if interested.
glad you had fun with us dealer boys. u need to brush up on your passenger seat spotter duty for me though so i don't get another dent in the door:laugh:
i wanna add some tubing to mine too and was wondering is it better to have the tubes straight out like the ones on the white jeep or angle them upwards?
i just installed my 3.5" pro comp leafs this past week, the ride is much better then the saggin add-a-leafs and 2" blocks i took out. left the lift shackles with them. not sure it was actually the full 3.5" lift but the xj weighs a bit more now too since it went into the shop with...
the rubicon express yoke says 5/8" longer and does say it allows for more angle to avoid bind. its for a 231 case, not the 242 which i have. just looking for options without dropin the $$ yet.
i understand its about the vibes, i ran it without the tcase drop installed and it was not that bad, i just don't want the rear shaft to fall off the splines of the yoke or twist them up when things get a little crazy. i see rubicon express makes longer slip yokes to cure that problem too.
the wj's have slip yokes on them and have a small harmonic dampener on the shaft right infront of the front ujoint. I measured from joint cap to joint cap and figured on going back to my xj yoke (not sure if splines would be the same even though they both have 242 cases) i'm sure different years...
i work at a jeep dealer and have been looking at other jeeps wondering about doing more stuff to mine. the ? is has anybody ever tried useing a grand cherokee rear shaft inplace of an xj shaft? of acouple i measured the zj rear shaft is about 4.5" longer than my 99 xj, the wj rear shaft is about...
my 99 did the same thing after a 4.5" lift, ended up that the front driveshaft was wore on the ball socket between the 2 ujoints on the tcase end of the shaft. tried a tcase drop-no change. the noise was really bad when in low range and on the throttle. ended up buying a new mopar shaft from...
my 99 limited has a np242 t-case. i found a np231 out of a xj with a sye already installed . will the case swap go right in with the stock shifter a front drivshaft? they both have aw4 transmissions and dana 35 rear axles.
