Hey i'm trying to take apart a 231J and i can't seem to get the case to split... am i missing something? I took out the tail housing bolts and knocked that loose, i took out the bolts holding the retaining something or other on the input side and removed the two snap rings... inner and outer...
Front
The back looks like this but it bolts up to the holes where the hitch goes and the gas tank skid goes
This is what it looks like all together
Let me know if you want any of what you see...
a stretched chain would be how much slack? Should there be any slack? And what color RTV to put the halves back together? What about input shaft lengths?
ok sounds pretty straight forward. When i get the 231 is thre anything i should replace have it out... unfortunately no money for sye ... maybe later...
What would i need to swap from a 242 to a 231. I have been looking because my 242 is getting ready to blow and i don't have any 242's around here to replace it. So what i'm looking for is what is different between the two that i can try to plan for. I hear that the front driveshaft yokes can...
Tht's what i thought... I figured the guy was kinda a pansy cause he wants his jeep to drive like a caddy with no bumps or what have you but just wanna make sure...
some one had told me that 15X10 on 33's would cause the tire to balloon and cause what he had said was like bump steer. but i thought that 33's would be a good size for 10 inch wide rims.
40 - 50 miles a day on road. I wheel once or twice a month. And it's fl so nothing extreme. The 33's would be 12.5 in width. And i have 4.5 inches of lift.
