Do you know any of the details of the TSB?

    Intermittent loss of gauges

So that's it? Dielectric grease and it's fixed? That'd be nice. I've swapped out my cluster a opulent of times thinking it was in there not the wiring. Anyone know what the TSB said?

    AC1 H4 headlight upgrade issues

I have an AC1 H4 headlight harness upgrade kit model #50.9103 installed on a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport with a manual transmission. A friend of mine has two of the same harnesses installed on both of his Jeep Chrokees (1997 and 1998 both automatics). Both of his harnesses work flawlessly. Mine...

    Death wobble???

I understand LA=long arms, but what's a DB?, and sure, you're right about LA's but whose got a grand laying around to do that? I was lucky to get away with what I got...I do apreciate the advice - too little time and even less coin. Curious about th DB's though...

    Death wobble???

Ok, guys. I've searched the posts for fixing the problem, but I'm not sure if it's the problem I'm experiencing. Here's the thing... I'm running a '98 sport with RE 3.5 plus a 1.5 eco lift, approximate total of about 5". Tires are metric equivalent of 31's on stock rims. I've recently...

    231 vs 242 linkage

I did the same thing to my '98. I changed the gate and still needed to adjust the linkage. I had both the stock linkage from my '98 with the 231 and the linkage from the donor with the 242. I cut them apart and welded them together and got a perfect linkage from the result. I'll try to post...

    Chrysler 8.25 carrier bearing preload?

The torque spec to which I am referring is the bearing preload, not the bearing caps - which I know is 100 ft/lbs. Are you thinking the preload should be 100ft/lbs or did you misunderstand the specs I'm looking for? That seems high for bearing preload.

    Chrysler 8.25 carrier bearing preload?

I'm replacing my open carrier in my Chrysler 8.25 with a Mopar limited slip. I've got the ring old gear and new bearings on the carrier and I'm looking for preload specs for the carrier bearings and some way of successfully threading the holders in - I was thinking of modifying an appropriately...

how do I seat a ring gear?

I've got a 8.25 and I am trying to install a new Mopar posi. (The bolts securing the ring gear are left thread) I was able to knock the ring off the old carrier with a brass punch easily enough; I thought I could draw the ring onto the new carrier witht the bolts but they're getting pretty...

    Stock axle swap woes

Yup. Got a JKS adjustable track bar and its set so the axle is properly under the jeep. Thought about swapping the knuckles, but was disappointed that I should have to do this. I will check the rotors for similarity...I did use my complete brakes on the front from the old axle, I'll let...

    Stock axle swap woes

I have two '98 XJ's. One is an auto (parts vehicle) and the other is manual and my daily driver. I thought I'd swap out the front ends (both Dana 30's) cause the auto has 3.55's and the manual has only 3.07's. I'm running 31's on the daily driver and the 3.55's should perform better. So we...

RE - Super Ride or Super Flex

I put a 3.5 SR on mine along with a budget boost (donut in front and long shackles in rear) I LOVE it! with a t-case drop I have no vibe and it is a better ride than factory!!! I do run stock wheels and even with spacers the front rubs the LCA's a bit at full lock but it is so little that with...

    "super-stock" builds

yeah - I'm running 265/75/15's now with RE 3.5 and a budget 2" for a total of 5+ of lift. the new LCA's with the lift helps the rubbing. I've also run both stock steelies and stock aluminums - all rubbed the LCA. even with a cheap spacer in the front, I still have a tiny bit of rubbing at full...

    Average rig on trail runs?

I've been running an XJ ten years now but before that ran CJ's exclusively and still have two I'm building. As for mods - I couldn't agree with the earlier post of run it stock and see how it goes first. These are GREAT vehicles and very capable off road, right off the lot. Mods are great but...

    Loc right or Posi

you're right - its a 242 not a 241. I've been told that the output shafts are not the same length and it isn't a direct swap (dealer info) but called Advance adapters and they confirmed that the lengths were different but only by 100ths of an inch and that it would work. I've already got...
