Daily Driver Build and Plan - Jay's WIP

This is a good plan. I'm going to run it for now, and pay attention to where it is at and if it changes. If I have any issues, blowing fuses, gauge going up, etc. then I'll speed up the hunt for a cheap aux gauge. :viking:

Volt gauge reading 18v on '91-'96 cluster +other gauge issues while off.

Thanks Matthew. It's good to know I can just recalibrate the gauge, and that the gauges don't zero when off. I'm debating custom gauge lighting, and that would be a good time to play with the magnet adjustment. I may look into this depending on which way I go. Shorty elaborated in my build...

Daily Driver Build and Plan - Jay's WIP

Ok, update on the Heep overcharging issue. I cleaned off a couple more of the ground contacts, no results. Gauge still reading 18v. See this thread: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1080630 I posted it in the main OEM tech to get more exposure, but am linking it here for those...

    Instrument Cluster - Custom Gauges

Great write-up. Found this while searching for custom gauge XJ options. My stock gauges on my 94 suck. Thanks for the pics of ohming out the fuel sender and for providing the details. Did you ever get the harness work done so you could get the night shot?

Volt gauge reading 18v on '91-'96 cluster +other gauge issues while off.

Thanks Shorty. The next 18v episode is every time I drive it. HAHA. My dash gauge was reading 18 the entire time the guy at Advance was checking/reading 14.5v. Also, I typoed my original on-load reading. It was 14.59 off load, and it was 14.53, not 14.3, on load. I'm seriously considering...

Volt gauge reading 18v on '91-'96 cluster +other gauge issues while off.

Hey all. For several days, spaced over a couple weeks, I've been cleaning grounds and tightening cables trying to figure out why my gauge on my 94 Sport is reading 18+ volts. Today I drove it up to Advance and had them put the meter on it. We checked it off, checked it running, with no...

    emissions help

It worked on my Evo with a full 3" straight pipe and HFC... so I'd think it will work with a Jeep. Good luck!

Yeah, I read that too. I've done some research, but not much on NAXJA that I could find. justanswer lists the following from a Chrysler Master Tech: Expert: Dave replied 1218 days and 17 hours ago. So yeah. I'm tempted to get...

Daily Driver Build and Plan - Jay's WIP

1994. And yeah Tim I am not driving it. Took it to the car wash 1 mile away this morning to rinse the engine so I could see things a bit more clearly and spot fresh leaks, but that is it. I'm concerned that I'll put new HD cables, a fresh battery, etc, and end up causing damage to them, so...

    emissions help

So at a quick glance, 1 & 3 will be a problem, because it won't pass visual. Then c2 becomes an issue. And c4 will easily be $60 minimum at every inspection station that I've visited. So assuming you can find someone to sign off on 1 & 3, and c2, you're looking at $200-$260 or more, that has...

Daily Driver Build and Plan - Jay's WIP

Minor setback yesterday. I took off the suspect positive battery cable, cleaned, opened it up, reinstalled and tightened it down... and it's still charging to 18v. The cable end is black already despite being a couple of weeks old. That means it's getting too hot from what I understand. The...

Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Glad to read so many people consider the leaf/shackle bolts a challenge. When we did my leaf install it took 4 of us tag-teaming those bolts, after a steady week of PB Blaster to them. It was like, you crank a while, I'll crank a while. Still took a loooooong time. I'm just thankful the damn...
