    removing headrest adjusters??

I have a fresh set of seat covers that i'm trying to put on some seat frames. the new covers have plastic trim at the top of the covers, but i can't tell how to get the old plastic trim pieces off. Any advice? Just to clarify I'm talking about the black adjusters that need to be turned to...

    Motor Swap - no start

I stand corrected. I would have argued this umpteen times, but it seems that I don't know how to install a distributor. The manual I had showed #1 at ~7 o'clock. After confirming many times that at TDC #1 I had the button pointing to 7 o'clock and reading everyone's insistence that it was the...

    Motor Swap - no start

Timing has been verified on TDC #1 (compression stroke). It's really the same as setting it to any other cylinder on TDC, compression, assuming the motor is an even fire setup. Either way, it's still stumbling and not starting. Anyone got any other ideas? It really does seem like a timing...

    Motor Swap - no start

Just came back to add that. I am using #3 to set the timing. When #3 is at TDC the button is pointing directly at the pole on the cap. I know everyone goes to #1 TDC, but is it a special pole or will any terminal do the trick as long as the button and TDC line up??

    Motor Swap - no start

I'm about to lose my mind... i've checked everything I can think of, but this motor just will not start. It stumbles when being given gas while cranking, and almost goes on its own but is off just a tiny bit and will not stay cranked. So far I've rang every wire out that I can think of. All...

    school me on torque converters

or really crude ways of bench testing one. I took delivery of a cherokee last weekend that had some issues with it. After listening to things for a couple of days I'm fairly certain the problem lies in the flexplate / torque convertor area. I've got the transmission, torque convertor, and...

News of the Aussie makes for a 27 to 29 spline Conv.

Second what Art said... there's a difference in diameter of about .1 inches in the side spider gears with the 29 spline carrier having the larger bore.

98 XJ Remote start - no fan on acc?

Not a stupid question at all... as it turns out I am the stupid one here. After tracking down a FSM I noticed tat when installing the remote start in a 97+ (?) you need to tie both into the keyed 12 (run circuit) and the black/orange wire (ACC) in order to get the blower motor circuit to work...

98 XJ Remote start - no fan on acc?

Alright, confirmation!! I didn't know to look for this when I wired everything up... Now to get undernieth there with the fluke and check it out. If you have something near by and know the colors I would appreciate it. If it's too much trouble don't bother. Hopefully I'll ave some good news...

98 XJ Remote start - no fan on acc?

A/C compressor kicks on and runs in the summer, just the fan does not work in the car itself. Same with the heat, it's working just not blowing any air anywhere. Once the key is put in and turned to ACC the fan comes on like it would normally. What's the difference between running on the...

98 XJ Remote start - no fan on acc?

I've got a remote start installed on my '98 and have been wondering why I am not getting the fan for the A/C or heat coming on while the XJ is running without keyed ignition. The remote start sends a signal down the ACC line right at the steering wheel so all of the accessories "should" be...

    8.25 shaft Q

and that is why I'll retract the previous post. Everything fits right and install is nothing, but it started misbehaving after a little on the road. The OD of the driver gears is roughly 0.1" less than the OD of the spider gears on the shaft. It unloads in a straight line and stays locked in...

    8.25 shaft Q

well... I got bored. Shafts were 20 dollars for the set and replacement bearings and seals are the same part number regardless of spline count, from what I found. The shafts are in, the locker fits nice and snug in the case and I have a locker back. If I somehow manage to blow a shaft I...

    8.25 shaft Q

Alright, found the info I forgot: 27 spline - 1.17" diameter 29 spline - 1.21" diameter I think that's a little too much space to just throw something in there and call it good.
